Flipped the sewer compartment door on my Axis 24.2

This may not be new to many of you but, after a few years of fighting the compartment door on my Axis 24.2 while dumping waste, a light bulb went on and I made a simple change to it.

The problem is that the door opens down partially blocking access to the hose connection. This is compounded by the fact that the Axis is already low to the ground leaving a fairly narrow space to work with to begin with.

I removed the door and flipped it over. I use a bungee cord to hold it open when dumping. The decals did not align anymore so I just removed them.

While I was at it, I replaced the screws that hold the round access ring in the bottom of the compartment. The ones Thor used were about an 1/8th of an inch too long and can cut you when you are inserting or removing the sewer hose.

Clever and glad it works better for you. You might look into a magnetic catch to hold it open. You could mount it on your shower door.:

These were ordered on the fifth this month.
They're in the pile of 'to be installed'
They're very good quality and come in lots of pull values.

We did the same thing. It is great. Sad that something like that excites me, but anything to make it easy. I feel it was a mess up at manufacturing. Just don't know why it took us so long,I read your post and said hey, why don't we do that! Thank you for posting this, otherwise I might still be standing on my head at the dump station.

The next step, if your outlet is like mine, it swivels 90 degrees and you get to the connection from below. When it is in the down position, it is about even with the bottom of the compartment. There is no reason that I can see to swivel it back up since it does not protrude more than an inch with the cap on.

It is a hassle to rotate the outlet, so I leave it down with the cap on it.

Ours will rotate too, but it has a bottom hatch door that we elongated to fit. Sometimes I just wonder where the designers heads are at ..
