Girard tankless water heater - no power

Hello!
We are trying to install a Girard tankless water heater (the GSWH-2) from an electric/gas 6 gallon water heater.
We think we have everything hooked up correctly, but it seems like we have no power getting to the water heater. The on/off switch on the heater is on, 12V and -12V is connected (red and black), and heater has no power. The only wires that are not connected is the remote selector switch to choose gas or power.

Does the selector switch need to be connected also? We tried it and it ended up blowing a fuse (which has been replaced).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you turn on the power switch on the heater itself?

Yes, the heater button is on, 12V not coming from fuse block.

Which fuse block? Are you using the original wiring to the tanked heater? It comes from the Appliances fuse but you need to turn the OEM GAS water heater switch on to get power to that line.

I'm pretty sure we only have one circut breaker/fuse box, we tried connecting the gas switch to it and it blew a fuse.

There are 4 wires that come from the RV to the old unit, the positive wire, negative wire, and 2 switch wires. The tankless water heater comes with positive and negative, and that's it.

We don't understand how to connect 4 trailer wires into 2 tankless water heater wires.

The reason you had 4 wires was for the two control circuits. So two for the Gas control and 2 for the 120 VAC electric control. You'd have to look at a schematic to verify how they WERE connected to the old water heater so that you could connect the correct two wires for a simple 12 VDC supply to the new heater.

There is a main power switch at the unit itself but there is also an On / Off button at the User Control Panel (UCP).

I think Ace is on the right track making sure you are truly getting to the unit. Here are a couple sections from the Girard Service Manual that may help as well.
