Heat element

Anyone install a heat strip in their Coleman 15,000 btu A/C unit?

Nope, just use an electric heater and turn the AC fan on to circulate air.

I wouldn't have thought of using the a/c fan to help circulate the warm air. I do it with our home central HVAC all the time.

We've done it that way for years in our travel trailers. We got caught without an electric heater in our MH this past weekend and had to use the propane furnace. I wanted to run the AC fan to circulate the air and provide some white noise but there is no way to do that with the Coleman thermostat; it is either on Heat, AC, Fan or Off. I'll have to look into a mod to make that function available.

i installed it. it is not a heater, but it will take the chill off. it was cheap to purchase, easy to install. i think it was a good investment..i keep the heat lower on furnace and then just turn the air on in the morning to take the chill off. then i turn it off.

We use an electric heater which is fairly effective in the Gemini, but the AC's are heat pumps too, so they can provide heat down to about 35 or 36 degrees or so.

Anybody installed the electric furnace add on kit to the LP furnace? With the Challenger having the furnace floor ducts run into the water compartments, electric space heaters won't push heat down there. I Was also thinking why doesn't the furnace fan operate in the fan only mode.

Do you have two thermostats, One for the heater and one for the A/C heater?

One thermostat with: A/C, Fan, Off, Heat positions. Fan control operates the A/C unit in the fan mode. There is no blower control for the furnace.
