I just purchased a 2013 Chevrolet Spark. 2200 pounds and 34 mpg. Only 60,000 miles. I am 75 inches tall and fit fine. It’s just my wife and our dog. I am pulling with a 2021 24.1 Thor Axis. First trip with car next week. Hopefully will work fine.

Ken

I have a fiat 500 sport five speed manual. First off it a great little car to get around in and very fast
So easy to tow all you have to do is put it neutral and you can even take your keys out because the steering wheel doesn’t lock with the keys out! I’ve pulled two Jeep’s with the A class we use to have also great tow vehicles but heavy for a small C class they were both automatic.

I use blue ox tow bar and I had a blue ox tow plate installed on the frame of the fiat and a wire package for the lights. The blue ox has metal pins that insert into the car plate when your ready to tow and when your done a simple twist they come out and you don’t even know the car is equipped to be towed. Get this my wife had a Mercedes when we bought this as a towable she started driving it changing gears and told me to sell one beautiful car her Mercedes

With due respect, it looks like your setup would be better with a 2 or 4 inch drop on the hitch to level the tow bar. It probably only matters in a hard stop or an accident situation, though.

We flat tow a 2015 Chevy Sonic with a Class A Coachmen 35OS Ford V10 . Light weight vehicle, can’t even tell it’s back there. Just the two of us and of course the Australian Shepherd.

Ford C-Max and Fusion Hybrid and plug-in Hybrids (Energi models) are flat towable.

Used they can be pretty reasonable.

Jamie,
Can you give us an idea of what those 2 vehicles weigh?

Well my C-Max Energi weighed in around 3600 lbs. Not really a lightweight. The hybrids would weigh less due to the smaller battery.

Topic is cheapest easiest and smallest car to tow...nothing about weight in there

Lots of folks seem to be suggesting vehicles that they don't actually have experience with. Here is my suggestion and I own one and tow it. We have owned a 40 diesel pusher for 13 years and decided to downsize. We were towing a 6000lb truck and new that was not going to work. After some search looking for a practical vehicle that was less than 3000lbs with an automatic transmission we settled on the Chevy Sonic. It turned out to be a great choice and we love this little car. Only thing is 2020 is the last year GM is making the Sonic but you should be able to find a used one or a 2020 still on the lot some where.

We purchased a Ford Cmax with the intention of towing it behind the motorhome. That was back in 2015 but after using the vehicle we decided not to tow it and here is the reason why. We still have the Cmax and it is a great car. The wife drives it almost every day but here is why we decided not to tow it. We have dogs and often leave them in the vehicle with the engine running and the AC on in hot weather. We always lock the door and this is usually for less than 20 min. We noticed that the Cmax must be programmed to turn off the AC or override the thermostat if the vehicle is not in motion and the engine is running. It would get hot inside even if the AC was on. That was a deal breaker so we never towed it and never take the dogs anywhere with it. On the other hand our Silverado with the oversized radiator works fantastic even in the hot sun with the engine idling. The Sonic works great when idling and so did a Ford SportTrac and a Honda CRV that were previous toads. Just saying that a Hybrid may not be a good plan if you leave the dogs in the car in hot weather.

Bob

I have more or less the same setup towing a chevy spark with Vegas for the last couple of years. Easy to tow and hookup and hardly know it is back there. I just have to make sure I don't get into any spots where I have to backup. Of course the Vegas does not have have a tight enough turning radius IMO. Don't ask me how I know.
You will have an easy towing experience.
