I contacted Thor and bought a similar rack from them. had to order it through the dealer.
i think it's made by Mor-Ride... the folks that build the chassis extension framework.

My coach had the attachment pivot points (tabs) already welded in place. The threaded rod used to connect the 3rd point was in the wrong location though. Poor manufacturing tolerances I suppose....

Mine doesn't telescope out like that Bal unit does though.

That Bal unit is made for a trailer, but no reason I can think of that a creative handy person couldn't make it work.

You don't have a spare tire carrier built into the storage bin? Or are you wanting to use that space for other reasons?

No spare tire was included with my Chateau 22e and there is no place to put a spare except a hitch mount, rear bumper mount, or find a way to mount it underneath.

My grandfather always mounted the spare tire for his pickups on the front grille. Someone probably still makes an adapter bracket for that kind of mount.

Ugly as can be though, and there might be an issue with engine cooling I suppose.

Your (?) is likely intended to the OP, but I'll answer for my part of the conversation.....
No place intended for a spare on mine, except under the chassis.

I think I remember your pictures in other threads, your coach has what I'll call the mega storage closet under your rear bed. Those like that that I have seen do have a molded plastic floor with a spare tire location. I've seen some even with a location to hold a nice folding table. Really a nice layout.

My coach has a fairly large storage locker, but nowhere near like yours. There is room for a tire in there, and that's where mine lived until I got the rack. I could still get my chairs and other stuff in there but it was tight with tire in place. Instead there were welded on pivot point tabs built into the chassis rear extension framework, and a threaded rod, forming a three-point attachment layout. i correctly assumed that this was intended for an optional spare tire rack form Thor. (pictured above).

From what I understand, many coaches don't even have those connection point.... no provision at all for a spare!

OEM Spare tire location?

Hey. Spare tire location for a newbie with a new to him four winds 2005 29e. The prior owner had it mounted off the rear bumper. On my maiden voyage I discovered a crack in the weld on the bumper.

I found two bolts untlder the undercarriage at the end of the RV. They fit. It works. But considerable flex in the supporting frame. Does this look right?
