Hidden extra keys

I am paranoid about being on the road and loosing both sets of keys or only taking one and locking the second set in the locked RV.

So I made a third set of keys and hid them in the extra sewer hose holder I previously fastened to the chassis.

Pictures show the keys in two sealed bags and taped to the cap (Screwed it on super tight also)! I know it is a theft risk but hopefully no one will look in there!

I had the same concerns (in fact once I locked myself out of the RV), so I converted one of the storage bins on the coach to a combo lock. I keep the spare set of keys inside the storage bin, which is at least semi-secure.

These locks tend to be problematic over time due to water and dust intrusion, but so far with the rubber cover, I have not had any issue.

The bin is one of the outside accessible storage compartments. I only replaced the CH751 lock with a combo version and boot.

Here is where I bought those:

Robot Check

http://www.amazon.com/Frank-J-Martin...SIN=B004ONNA42

Don't know why the first link says robot check. Must be something to do with the forum software.

I am paranoid too. I hide an extra storage compartment key (not CH751) in a place on the chassis where I can get to it (like your sewer cap) and then a set of keys to the doors hidden in a storage compartment and a spare key to start the motor inside the coach. I am going to make them work to find them.

Has anyone thought about going keyless with an electronic lock?

With only one door, I worry about something like that failing and not being able to get into the coach. Of course, if that happens, it would not be hard to open one of the front windows with a screwdriver and crawl in. Actually, I think that would be a lot easier than hunting for keys.

Morning All,
I use one of those small magnetic key holders, which can be placed in numerous places under the coach.
Shop The Hillman Group Magnatic Key Box at Lowes.com

Also on mine, all it takes is the removal of a very small grub screw... and the side windows just slide off their rails (no security really!!).

Keys

We also fear being locked out, so we hid the door keys in the propane bay and have a ignition key hidden inside in a secret cabinet. When I removed a panel to figure out why our bedroom radio didn't work (Thor never installed the antenna) I discovered a large cavity perfect for hiding things in. I added hinges and a push release latch to the panel before re-installing it. It is out of the way and there is nothing visible to indicate it is actually a door. It is a great place to hide valuables.

Not a secret cabinet for any Windsport 27K any more.

Texan, Is the magnet strong enough to ensure it will not fall off going down the road!?
