Project Amia

...As in Baxter Amia: they dialysis cycler that my Missus needs to hook up to nightly.
We had a good friend put together a foldable shelf that could be placed on top of the nightstand on her side of the bed. But since the bed folds and is on a slide: it took some serious backyard engineering.
But since this is what the guy is best at: we knew that he'd come up with an answer.
Here's some pictures of the machine, and the stuff that needs to go on the shelf
Then I've got a picture of where it'll need to sit.
Followed by a couple of shots of the finished eesult.
Since lighting conditions weren't ideal: I'll get some better pictures of it tomorrow

As Plato said, 'necessity is the mother of invention'! Looks workable. Will be interested in knowing how well it all works out for you.

We'll get a chance to test it for about a week's worth of driveway camping; while the upstairs bathroom is getting renovated.

Truthfully: He told me that I couldn't afford him!
And his Dear Wife told him that he wasn't allowed to take even a nickel from my Kathy for it.
They served together on the local School Board for 13 years, and I've known him for almost 60 years.
We'll take them out to Dinner; in order to get squared-up with him.

Thanks! The Missus doesn't like changes; so I think that it'll be a "tense" week..,

My wife works in dialysis. None of her patience like any type of change. Good luck. Hopefully it will be a fun adventure!

Once her chemotherapy killed the transplanted kidney, and she had to go back on dialysis: she found that peritoneal dialysis has been much easier to deal with.
Hemo dialysis was always a daunting task for her.
But she's been keeping the catheter (and wound) clean; so there's been no signs of infection.
She's too stubborn to give up that easily anyway!

And may God bless your Wife!

That's great on the PD. My wife says the PD patients who really do it right can have a good quality of life in the most difficult of circumstances.

May your wife continue to do well!

She really likes the Amia. I think it's a relative newcomer to the "suck & pump" scene.

There’s nothing like the gift some people possess to live their life to the fullest no matter the bumps and twists they encounter along the way!

UPDATE: The Test Flight.
We've moved into our "Life-raft for the duration of the upstairs bathroom renovation.
Everything fit as planned on the shelf, and her overnight dialysis treatment was
as uneventful as we could hope for.
The only change we need to make: add a "pool noodle" along the edge that hangs over the mattress. She had enopuigh sleeping room; but did hit her knees on it a couple of times.

She was pretty nervous getting into bed and hooking up.
Her only complaint this morning; was that I got up too many times in the night, and woke her up...

All in all: that's a major win!
