How to add a spare tire: inside or outside

Hello,
I have a 2018 Four Winds Sprinter 24HL. I'm about to leave for a long trip and I'm concerned about not having a spare tire with me.
IF I have a flat do roadside assistance overcharge to replace a tire on the road?

I'm considering having one put inside the rear cargo compartement But the bottom is made of molded plastic and I don't think it's strong enough tu support the weight long term. Thor does not recommend any method of transporting a spare. Not even on the trailer hitch. I carry 2 bicycles so even a hitch solution seems difficult.

Any options to consider?

Many threads on the subject - though not sure I've seen a specific solution for the Sprinter.

Opinions vary - so do what you are comfortable with. One you may not have thought of - some carry just the tire (no wheel) which is much lighter... and have roadside assistance mount it if needed. A middle ground that you may be able to find a way to store on board.
From what I have seen reported, the cost for a tire from a roadside assistance is very close to what you would pay on your own - though availability may be a concern based on where you might be traveling.

There is a Roadmaster product (#195225) that will carry a spare and still let you use your hitch for other purposes. It’s heavy and expensive because it’s designed to be able to carry a spare for even a big diesel pusher but it works great and will outlast several RVs. As long as you don’t exceed your tongue rating you should be fine. Biggest drawback for me was the cost but it’s a one and done expense so I did it and did t look back.

Here's the link

And where you can get it. It's not cheap at over 500.00, but it is transportable from one rig to another.

I'm using the universal spare tire carrier #6715 fro etrailer on my rear bumper receiver. It fits my unit perfect and it's not that expensive. etrailer.com is the website.

If you can not physically change the tire yourself and are dependent on roadside assistance than carrying an unmounted spare is your lowest cost option. A mounted spare will be heavier and naturally cost more but you can change the tire yourself if assistance is not available and you are capable of doing the work. Roadside assistance will mount your spare at no cost as part of your subscription.

If you have to buy a tire off the truck it will very likely cost more than if you walk thru the door of the seller and your choice of tire make, model and birthday will be very limited to what they have available on the truck or back at the store.

Thanks for the specific model number. I have a cargo opening in the middle of the rear so
I would have to access the compartment every day. I think I will opt for the following:
I do have an unmounted tire already and will have roadside assistance. So I will carry it with me for now. The tire is around 35 pounds so it should be OK. It will not as flexible as a rim mounted but I get easy access to my rear compartment.

Also, some tires are not readily available as I found out. Don't wait till you need one.
