Water Pump Relocate 24.1 Axis

I know this is an old subject but I do like success. I finally got around to moving the ShurFlo water pump from its factory location (on the floor and hard plumbed to the PEX pipes which is NOT how ShurFlo's instructions point out for installation).

I used two 90 degree bathroom type valves 1/2" x 1/2" pipe fittings to connect to the PEX where the pump was originally located. Next, I used two 1/2" 30" long faucet lines to connect to the pump fittings.

Mounted the pump on a piece of 2"x6" wood that I screwed vertically to the forward section of passenger side bunk water tank area. Made a huge difference in quieting down the pulsating pump. I'll try to attach some picture later.

This is what’s made a difference for me...
Seaflo Accumulator Tank

I no longer hear the pump like I did when we first purchased our coach.

Relocating Water Pump for Quiet

Hope these pictures help explain. The old location of the pump was right between the two new 90 degree valves.

Earl- Thanks for the details and photos. I'm doing it also. While your supply lines were easy to install, I'm concerned that the smaller lines will restrict the flow. I'm using 1/2" hose and barbed fittings. I tried the swivel PEX fitting with the hose but it leaked, AARRGGHH! So now it's 1/2" barbed adapters.

*note- I hadn't checked the pump strainer before...yep, it was full of white poly shaving from the factory install.

Yep this was one of my mods last spring as well. I used the reinforsed nylon watersafe hose (wont kink) and did a big loop on the inlet and output so it had plenty of flex for the water pump.

Then mounted the water pump on a small piece of plywood covered with sound deading insulaton on both sides. I bolt the WP to that board then the board to the floor that way the vibrations could not transmit.

I finished it off with the surflow accumulator tank and i used about 2 foot in foam pipe insualtion on both side of the water pump as well (why not - I had it on had anyway).

All of this quiet the WP down and the accumulator tank took care of the surging.

One of wifes favorite mods. It drove us crazy before.

Flexible Water Line

Yes, I thought about the water restriction too but then got to thinking that the water valves themselves are the smallest of the restrictors to begin with. I'll give it a try but for now the flow doesn't seem any different than before the modificaitons were made. It made a major difference in the pump noise.
