Internal EMS

Just added an inside EMS system. Not too difficult, I put in the bay under the bed and added it just before the switching unit. Couple of lessons learned:
1. Access to the area is great if you bring the bed in about half way.
2. Do the work early before it heats up outside because you will need to turn the power off and it heats up fast in there!
3. If you want to mount the EMS unit to the frame of the bed pedestal, pre position the wires so the mounting holes face that way. I didn't and had to make an L bracket which screwed to the side of the pedestal and the unit then sat on the bottom.
4. Strip about an inch more wire than the instructions call for, the 6 gauge wire is tough to work with in confined spaces, so leave yourself some room to bend wires around.

Other than that, it was fairly straight forward. I do have a pedestal mounted EMS/surge protector, but got tired of trying to secure it at the camping spots.

I wasn't sure I was going to be satisfied with the Omni so I got the pedestal version, PI. The hard mounted one is difficult to work the wire but once installed you don't have to lug the thing around.

I actually bought my Progressive Industries internal version back in 2017 for our Grand Design towable. I removed it before selling the trailer, and installed it in the MH. Those dang wires are STIFF!! But well worth not even having to think about it (I keep the remote switch ON) when plugging in to "strange" shore power.
