Inverter Installation in 2015 Thor Axis/Vegas 24.1

I am in the planning stage of installing a 2000W inverter in my Axis 24.1 so that while boondocking my wife can watch TV in bed and I can do my morning routine with a coffee maker/MW/ and watching the News without starting up the generator. Currently, it seems the best location for the inverter is in the cavity under the bed near the fresh water tank. That placement would make the DC cable run from batteries to inverter approximately 16 to 18 ft. Has anyone done something similar or have a better idea? I am looking for advice/pointers. I am undecided as to whether to install a transfer switch or just separate plugs, again advice accepted. Looking under the bed I see there is a transfer switch there already. I assume that is for the generator.

Yes, that is for the generator/SP - but you don't need one that big.

Best inverter install practices dictate as short a DC wire run as possible. Your best bet is to get an inverter with a remote ON/OFF switch and mount it in the compartment just aft of the batteries. Then run the 120 VAC "romex" to the back of the Power Center/Breaker Panel.

Find the circuit coming out of your power panel that powers the TVs and install this Xantrax ATS in it with the line from the inverter:

All the TVs and a couple of outlets are normally on that circuit. That should meet your needs except for the Microwave as it is normally on its own circuit.

Thanks, this looks like a much easier and cheaper way to go with the smaller transfer switch.

I put a 650w inverter just inside door near passenger seat. It runs TV for bluray/TV/PS4 while underway. Cable run is short and have fuse and circuit braker in line. Mine came with 2 batteries so when sitting still is good for more than 6 hours without engine or generator. I have a HD cord that plugs in by sink outlet or into inverter.

It was used recently during dog trial in NC during IAN blackout charging phones etc.

Going larger is an option but batt capacity becomes issue.
