iPhone managing Garmin RV data and handsfree through stereo
Hello everyone. I'm researching buying either a Garmin 780RV or 890RV, and cannot find information about whether my iPhone can be BT connected to infotainment system for handsfree and sending music to my stereo, and also BT connected to Garmin for data.
Can the iPhone manage the two BT connections, or would I have to plug the phone into USB to the infotainment system and BT with Garmin to get this functionality? I hate plugging my phone in as I'm then constantly charging the battery.
Thanks in advance for your help. Garmin couldn't answer my question, so I'm hoping real users may have the experience.

I can't answer your question either. My Garmin RV660 connects to my cheap Android phone and to my Axxera radio at the same time. I think your question is to Apple about the capabilities of the iPhone. Being able to connect to multiple devices in the Android world is called "Super Bluetooth".

What data do you expect to get from the Garmin?
Do you want the Garmin to connect to the iPhone for traffic and weather info? If so that is not through blue tooth but should be setup through personal hotspot on your phone. This works as long as the iPhone has a good Wi-Fi or LTE connection. I have a Garmin 760 and the coach radio is a Soundstream.

That's what my Garmin does and it uses Bluetooth to make that connection. You can also use the Garmin as a hands-free device for the "phone" functions on the phone.

Correct.
I like my Garmin. Beware the LMT models are Lifetime Maps and Traffic, the caveat is you cannot exceed 1 year without logging in and updating your Garmin, or you lose the lifetime updates (it's in the fine print and their out if you fail to do so).
I can see where this can get lost in the "to-do" list, so far I have managed to log in during my winterizing of the RV, this is second winter.

I've heard that rumor before and I see several issues with it.
I have had 6 different Gamin GPS devices over the years in my various vehicles. All have been lifetime map models. Some have gone as long as 3 years without updating and I have never had a issue updating any of them.
There is no "logging in" to update them. You download/install Garmin Express on your PC. Connect the GPS device to the PC via USB cable. Garmin Express reads the serial number, verifies it's a LM model, gets the software and map updates, and installs them on the device.
Easy Peasy, no login required, can be done from one or multiple PCs.

That is why my Garmin comes in after every trip, powered up and checked for updates. 2 days ago it took 2 hours for software and map updates.

Yes, my plan was to connect Garmin to phone to gather live data on fuel prices, weather, etc. I've ordered my 890 so will be experimenting hopefully soon. I believe the Garmin Drive app uses Bluetooth (the description in App Store references BT), and found some info that says iPhone 8 and above can handle multiple BT connections, so we'll see. For anyone following, I will be testing using a XS.

Multipl ways of doing things, Bluetooth or WiFi. I connect my Garmin to the PepWave WiFi and turn off my iPhone while driving.
Weather - I use the drive weather app
Fuel - TSD Logistics Open Road for diesel stop on the discount plan
Traffic - Retired and don’t care about a little traffic.
Enjoy the trip.
