Angry Jackknife Couch Disaster

I have a 2018 Thor Freedom Elite 26he with the following floor plan

https://www.freedom-motorhomes.com/f...or-plans/26he/

Our Jackknife couch is horribly uncomfortable. We'd love to replace it but the couch sits over the outside storage which takes up about half the space under the couch. Are there alternatives for replacing crap like this?

If I can't replace it, any suggestions for making it more comfortable?

Thanks
Brian

I've seen other posts for those with Thor Palazzo 33.2 that have the same issue and one poster showed great pictures of how he removed the box under the sofa and made it a flat floor (reduces the storage bay hight) and was then able to put in nice theater seats.
You may find it by searching the Palazzo forum.

I totally agree about the uncomfortable jackknife sofa.
I replaced mine with RecPro theater-style recliners with the added center section. They fit the 68" space perfectly, but will extend 3" more into your aisle space. Not sure if you will have the space for the footrests when reclined. Rec Pro has all of the measurements on their website. Mine are on a slideout so room was not a problem.
They are decently made recliners and very comfortable. You will need a 22" door space to get them in and it is an easy install. The sofa comes out in numerous pieces.

Do you have room to carry a decently thick mattress pad?

We have considered this. We have one on, and it has improved. Our biggest issue is the storage bin taking up floor space.

I'm assuming that these require a flat floor under them?

its not just your jack nife...our "air bed" sucks horribly, i mean horribly

you almost better off building a couch

we have been through almost a dozen replacement air parts.
the couch itself sucks to sit on.
I have been all over looking at a residential replacement for just a couch, screw the bed, we don't need it

our coach feeds four, and sleeps 2.

i have a real nice single bed size fold out couch in the house that is really comfy. it may be moving to the bus.

I'm just desperate enough to try the build it yourself method.

My only issue with the jack knife sofa is the size...it's like sitting on a 2X12. The dogs can walk behind your legs while you sit there.

Could you adapt one of these? I have one in a spare room and love it. You could use / not use the drawers as needed and just glue the drawer fronts onto the frame.

I'm going to go out on my usual limb here.

We recently went through a year of residential couch Shopping. It's ordered but not built yet. Finally done with that crap job.

But

In our 40 store search we found that every single store had multiple loves seats and reclining love seats and sleepers that fit in our 24.1.
Some weren't wall huggers, some were. Some might require a bit of slide platform extension by adding a (basically) 2x4,and some fit perfectly with no mods at all.

Two sectional recliners from our existing home couch will fit just fine.
We never thought to even consider it until I recognized a measurement while we were mapping out the living room.

Go shopping.
It isn't any cheaper but it's variety and variety breeds comfort.

Ps
You get to sit in them. So my 6'4" recommendation doesn't have to conflict with your 5' 2" comfort.
