Jensen 12 volt TV volume control

I wonder if this is a problem with my unit or something that is common with this model. The volume when all the way up is far from being loud. If the AC or furnace blower is running you have a hard time hearing it over the background noise. I have a set of wireless headphones that I use after the wife goes to bed and they are fine but wqe should not have to watch TV like that. The Seiki TV's in the bedroom and outdoors both have plenty of volume so it is not just me going deaf. Will I have to live with it as is, see a dealer or replace with a different TV? I ask here because if it is normal for this model I hate to make a trip to a dealer for nothing. Thanks, Jim.

Jim,

I had 3 Jenson 12 VDC televisions in my Sunseeker class CV and with the volume at 50 percent on any television it would blast you out of the coach even with the AC running.

Have you checked to see if the television has a volume limiter in the settings?

I went through the menu and could not find any kind of volume limiter, a couple things I don't understand but tried all the options and nothing seems to help. In our ACE 30.1 this is the TV over the kitchen counter that swings out so am not sure where the sound bar would fit. It is also a bit annoying to think we would have to do this to make up for an inferior OEM part. OTOH we are very happy with our ACE and plan to make it a long term member of the household. Jim.

Like you said we love are Ace also and plan on keeping it a long time. I thought the same thing you should be able to hear the tv over the air conditioner. My tv is the same one you have in the same spot above kitchen counter on a bracket that swings out. I have not come up with an idea on mounting a sound bar at this time. I am not sure if sound bar should be mounted to the ceiling or under cabinet below the tv, or should it swing with the tv somehow.

The Jensen television volume problem isn't specific to Thor. If you check the Forest River forum you will find folks that have the same issue.

In my Forest River Class C I had 3 Jensen televisions. The only one that had what I would consider normal volume was the one connected to the 5-1 surround sound system which was a FR option.
