I was leaning Class A for the more open floor plan, and more storage. Fortunately, she wasn't intimidated by the 29M at all. We did check out some Class C's as well, and she turned her nose up at them.

We won't be full-timing, at least not for several years. We're still about 7-8 years from retirement. For now, it'll be weekend getaways and one or two longer trips each year. Once we retire, we do plan on much longer trips throughout the country.

Thanks for the welcome, I'll be hanging around.

Hi Dave,

The 29M is a breeze to drive and should not be a problem for the DW to drive! Take a road test in one and she will be convinced! Good luck!!

29M Windsport water leak

Hi all,

First of all, Merry Christmas. Hope everyone has a blessed Christmas holiday. Second, I know this should probably be posted under repairs, etc., however, this is obviously the preeminent forum on 29M’s, so here it goes.

On two separate occasions when I have extended the slide in the past month or so, I have noticed that there is no water supply to the kitchen or bath. Obviously a pinched line somewhere. If I close and reopen the slide - problem rectified. So its been on my radar to investigate further. However, yesterday, after opening the slide, I had a puddle of water in front of the sink area. Cleaned it up and no further problem - and the water supply works everywhere. This now has me really concerned. Note this always has occurred on “pump” water and not city water supply. Space is so tight I can’t really get behind the sink with my head to investigate....so what suggestions do my fellow 29M owners have?

PS - I will get to posting some of my minor mods after the holidays.

Eric, never had that happen before. To gain access under your sink remove the small screws holding the panel under the sink. Remove the panel, takes some wiggling, and you’ll be able to see the hoses under the water heater much better. I’ve had to remove this panel to work on water heater wiring. The screws are not phillips, they are #2 square head, a phillips will work in a pinch.

Towing system mod update

My 3 phase towing project is moving smoothly on our 2017 Windsport 29M (Windy) and 2011 Ford Escape (Stormy)...

Phase 1: Install "Nighthawk" Tow Bar on Windy - COMPLETE
Phase 2: Install Base Plate and Lighting Wiring Harness - COMPLETE
Phase 3: Install Invisibrake Supplemental Braking System - UPCOMING SOON

I decided to install this system myself instead of paying approx $1500 to the "Pros".

So far, so good!!!

Dino, WOW, they wanted $1500 to do the install, ridiculous! I think you were quoted a high price because they didn’t want to do it.

Merry Christmas to you and Angie!!! Gonna have a white Christmas here, just started snowing, supposed to get 4-6 inches today. Have a VERY Happy New Year too!!!

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

I also have to say what a great learning experience this topic has been for me.

I've been lurking on the Thor forums since mid-Sept. That's when my wife and I "got the bug" and put a down payment on our Windsport 29M (our first ever RV).

We wanted a different color scheme & unfortunately, we had to order our unit. Well, that took forever...we didn't get it until Dec. 9th. We live in PA, so my first day of driving was through 4 inches of snow fall.

Nothing like trial by fire, right!

It's been pretty cold since we got her, so I haven't had a chance to get any mods done, but I am making a list.

I can't wait to get started and just want to say Thanks to everyone on this forum for the help, especially for newbies like me.

Oh, and with the Christmas holiday, I had 3 days off & finally got caught up on all the posts in the topic...whew! I fell asleep a few nights last week trying to read them all.

My first planned mods will all be geared toward the suspension:
1) CHF front & rear
2) SafeTPlus
3) Rear Trac bar

I'm saving some money for those items now. My biggest concern is that I'd like to try to do most of them myself, but I've never owned a vehicle this large. So, I have lots of research to do to figure out how I can get more clearance (safely) so I can move under the rig. I may have to just bite the bullet & find a qualified dealer & pay to install some of them.

Thanks again & hopefully one day I can actually contribute to the forum. Until then, I look forward to continuing my learning and enjoying the newest journey.

Welcome to the site.

Im 6'4" 240+ and i can fit under the motorhome. I did all the work with some help from friends. If you can turn a wrench then the mods you want to do can all be done at home saving you lots of install money.

If you need any coaching before doing the work just ask. I can pm you my cell and walk you through it and give you some time saving tips

Have fun and merry Christmas

Repairs on water leak with slider operation

Thanks SuperD for the suggestion. Pulled out the back & bottom panels under the sink. Found what I believe was the “kinked” hose causing the leak when opening and closing the slide and rerouted to avoid “kinkage”. At the same time, I removed the extra 5 feet of heater ducting the factory left on and switched the sink hot and cold water supplies to where they should have been to start. Three repairs in one location! Thanks Thor.

Happy New Year’s to all of you.

Eric, glad to help! As you go thru your coach you’ll find a lot of screwy stuff. Under the bed I found a full dust pan full of crud. When I opened up the electrical compartment under the bed I got another dust pan full of zip ties, saw dust, and other assorted crud. Thor techs aren’t exactly neat!!!

Project is done for today. I got tired of storing the blue tote tank on the ladder. So my buddy and i made a removable rack. Welded 1-1/2" square bar to the hitch, made the rack out of 1" square. Only thing left to do is get tge rack powder coated.

Good job Eric...If you have a chance and $$ I recommend you also change out 2 of your roof vent fans and put covers on them (see pics attached). It has made a world of difference especially in our West Texas summer!! It also helps if anyone in your crew is vertically challenged ()

Hi Dino,
Wondering if these vents are a direct size replacements for the factory installed vents or was any modification required for the install. I have been making a list and ordering parts for all of the mods we want to do when our Hurricane arrives, all based on posts from this thread. (You guys are costing me a lot of money)
Thanks,
RJ

That’s a great idea. Do you think you will catch any flack from covering up your tag?

I don't think so. Look at all the bike/storage racks on the road. Most of these block the plate. 5th wheels also block plates.

THe rack I made is removable . Its held on with hitch pins. If it was permanent I would have mounted the plate and plate light on the rack.
