Reclining love seat

Maria and I went shopping or should I say looking at reclining love seats today. We've looked at the love seats made specifically for rv's and we don't really like them. They are to small for me and they just are not as comfortable as seats made for houses.

I'm not knocking the guys that bought rv love seats. They just aren't for me.
I'm 6'4" and the rv love seats are really made for 6' and under people. SO if I buy one I want it to fit me

We went to La-z-boy and their prices are crazy high. Plus they really didnt have anything we liked that was 68" or smaller. Went to two other stores and only one had a couple of options that might work.

One was a manual recliner with cloth upholstery, only $450, the other was power and leather, $1300.

The problem with both are the back rests are 42" high. This means the side valances for the window will have to be removed or shortened. Also the depth is bigger than stock and to recline they would have to be about 3" from the wall This will also make the love seat stick out more in the walkway. about 8" more before reclining.

Maria likes the cloth one better and I like the leather.

I took better measurements in the mh after returning and we'll go back to the store this week to look more.

Jerry

I built a box around the pump (using 1x6 shelf type board) and put a plywood cover on top to gain storage above the pump measuring about 20 x 20 x 8.5 inches. I don't think the pump will generate too much heat and my box is open in the back anyway. Hopefully the pics will help.
Going to do this mod today if i have time. If not later this week. Been wanting to do it since you posted it. Thanks

Anna Marie has been lobbying to replace the family room couch with something less "puffy". Its a very nice ($$$) leather couch with two electric reclining sections we've had for a decade, but she says she can't sit on it without straining her neck (For the record she chose it). So we are likely to be getting a new family room couch. This kicked off thoughts on where the old one is going, and led to a fortuitous discovery.

We've been looking at replacing the jackknife sofa in the ACE and were looking at a Seats4Less or a RecPro sofa/recliner. When we moved here 6-1/2 years ago we bought a couple of recliners and a recliner love seat for the finished basement. I think they were Ashley Furniture, and they have not been used very much.

I went downstairs today and measured the recliner love seat and found that the overall dimensions are the same or less than the RecPro we were looking at. The love seat is actually two almost zero clearance recliners mounted on a common base with bolts. So I believe I can separate them to get them into the coach. I need to make few more measurements in the coach, but I think we have a solution. The basement recliner love seat goes into the coach and the big couch goes downstairs in its place. Thor couch gets sent to the basement storage room and gets covered with other junk.New upstairs couch probably won't be more than two or three times the cost of the RecPro...

Built the cover for the water pump and placed some rubber under the pump. I used 1x6 and 1x4. I didnt have any plywood.

Might want to pad those seatbelt slots a little--if they get used regularly I can see them fraying at the wood. (Maybe just sand the edge round.)

Good thinking Jamie. We've never used them but you never know.

Jerry,
Your pictures remind me that I have been thinking of repositioning the water pump so that it is connected to the Pex pipes with flexible water line in an attempt to make it a bit quieter. I put some padding underneath it and it made no difference. I was reading the instruction sheet from ShurFlo and it says not to plumb it directly to hard plumbing and that flexible lines should be used.

The water pump cover is a great idea. Creates space & saves the pump from getting beat up.

Jerry - for your water pump cover, since you used slats (1x4, 1x6) you actually have some room for venting.

I did like the plywood cover idea too.

if heat is a concern for the plywood cover option, maybe drilling a few vent holes through the plywood would help alleviate any concerns for that option as well.

I also left the back open. The bottom frame only uses three boards

Only did that because it was easier and allows more air flow. Dont really think it needs air flow but it has it always

The backs on the recliners normally come off. They slide onto brackets. Take them off. This will make it much easier to get through the door

Jerry,

It doesn’t appear that way on this one. The back cover goes to the bottom of the seat and appears to be attached to the seat frame. It might come off to let me remove the back, but I didn’t want to start pulling things apart yet, especially if I can split the loveseat and get it in the coach A puzzle to yet be solved, and one that that waits for spring (left Tustin 6 years ago and sometimes miss the flexibility allowed by SoCal weather, then I remember the traffic)
