I’ve put a PD4655 in my Axis a year ago and it has worked flawlessly. My original converter/charger never went into boost mode, but more importantly it seldom went into maintenance mode either, which slowly ruins your batteries. Well worth the expensive and effort.

I have had the rv plugged into shore power for a week and with the WFCO it has never gone into maintenance mode either, stayed pretty steady at 13.2 - 13.3 volts.
Since our Hurricane 29M was built with a residential fridge I want the batteries to be able to recover as quickly as possible while on shore power or with the generator running.

12 DC Voltage Surges

Hey Folks, I appear to be having a problem in my coach that I do not believe I have seen here before (I say "I believe" because while I have read every post, this old man can't remember them all). I purchased my 2018 ACE 29.3 ~3 months ago. The MAXXFANS (2 of them) in the ceiling have never worked. I have given up on warranty repairs (Camping World is off the table and the next available appointment for the THOR Elkhart service center is the end of July), so I decided to look into the problem myself. I confirmed the fans were getting power (right at 12 volts) and that the polarity was correct. I called the MAXXFAN service group and they told me the boards were very sensitive to voltage spikes (as little as 13.5 volts could harm them). So I took one of the fans apart and sure enough, the board had a crispy little area to it, fried and dead!!! Seems like I have had some important voltage fluctuations on the 12 volt DC side of my coach electronics. Soooooo, tomorrow I will order new boards.

Has anyone else had issues with the 12 volt system. I'm considering either a surge suppressor on the entire 12 volt system or small protectors on individual devices. Something that can place a hard limit on the upper voltage to near 12 volts. Any comments or thoughts??

You will find posts on WFCO lack of performance all over various forums. I’ve seen posts about the Harris batteries that Thor puts into the coaches going bad very quickly (mine did) and Harris denying warranty claims due to converter performance. It’s quite a scam they have going because they know that the WFCO’s do eat batteries and they can deny warranty claims and get away with it. Thor doesn’t seem to care much as they keep supplying WFCO and Harris as OEM.

After our first winter storage, the Harris batteries wouldn’t take much of a charge, so I replaced the WFCO converter with a Progressive Dynamics multi-stage converter (they make a slide in replacement) and a pair of 6 volt Interstate batteries. They have been working fine. The Progressive Dynamics goes to 14.5 volts when the battery is low and then goes to 13.2 volts in maintain mode. It also will automatically go to equalize mode for periods when it’s been in maintain for awhile.

Full Motion Locking TV Wall Mount

Another Mod bites the dust. Earlier this week Jerry completed the same Mod. Since I still have the original Seiki 32" LED TV in the living room, I had to use a different model than Jerry's because the VESA for my model is 200X100. You may notice that I also used some pipe insulation noodles as shock absorbers since the lateral axis is still active even when the mount is locked. I brought the mount on Amazon for $49.95. DW now has a better viewing angle when seating in her theater seat. She loves the new Mod!!

Rubber Boot on control arm

Implemented CHF yesterday and going to install the rear camera monitor today. Then alignment tomorrow and Safety First Dampener in the next day or so. While doing the CHF noticed that I have the torn boot on the control arm. Thought I'd mention it again for anyone new whom may not have heard about it yet. Now need to find someplace close to have it fixed under warranty.

Monitor install

Hi All,

Hot tip for installing the Rear view Safety Monitor. The silver switch box is theirs and on the website. There is a good diagram as to where each wire goes in the wight 6 pin connector. Once I found that it was almost plug and play. Keep in mind Thor does not always follow the color codes for their wires but the switch box pin locations should be much more consistent.

Here is a link to the instructions (if it works)

Had the same thing happen, but on the top cross piece. Gorilla glue is a wonderful thing.

Your opinion: Bunkhouse doors, 34J

Our bunkhouse doors have been a problem from the PDI. They would not function with the slide in. The tech in the process of adjusting them, ripped the screws out at the top of one side. He used some longer screws to reattach the door. Later they ripped out again and I took the doors off.
I have an appointment in Wakarusa, and the doors are on the list. Another thing on the list is a 1 1/2 inch bow in the full wall slide which I wonder if that bow is affecting the operation of the bunk doors.
I’m considering giving up on them and not even taking the doors to Wakarusa.
Then again, with a new coach I think everything should work, and should be on there if I sell or trade. I weighed the doors. 80 lbs for both sets. That’s an extra grandkids weight.
Your experience and opinions, please.

Bunkhouse doors

Our bunkhouse doors kept falling off too. There's just not much meat in those flimsy particle board doors for the screws to sink into.

I originally considered replacing the screws with larger furniture screws and recessed bolts that go through the door but my wife had a better idea. We ended up taking off the doors completely and using a spring-loaded curtain rod to hold up a heavy, light-blocking curtain. This has worked out very well for us and the boys.

USB Mod

Hey guys, so in the pic below I mounted the RearView Safety monitor for the 3 cameras as Jerry, Dino and others have done. Very simple "plug and play", found the silver box in the dash and all the wires were as Dino has described. Thanks to all as I never would have thought of this on my own........ vast improvement in my ability to see around my coach when driving. Really an important safety mod..... thx again. The left monitor is an iPAD that will run CoPilot RV Navigation and the ForScan OBDII. Also works great.

Also, I added a mod myself. I found this great little 12v input to 4 usb outputs (5+ volts), DROK DC-DC Buck Power Supply Module 9-36V to 5V Low Voltage Regulator. I mounted it (velcro) under the dash panel to power all my dash devices without having wires running everywhere. Here is the url for the device.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I hooked it up to the ignition activated 12 volt supply from the silver camera box, which is shared with my RearView Safety monitor.

Getting ready for our first trip to the Smokey Mountains in June!!! Cant wait!! Thinking about the Rear Trac Bar Jerry described and the Recliner chairs as my next mod.

Happy Trails
Glenn

Quick fix but no pics. The armrests on the drivers seat were never even. Lf was low rt was high. Made driving kind of weird not uncomfortable just weird.
While driving up to Lake McSwain on Sunday i noticed my armrests were different than Marias. On closer inspection i realized mine were installed upside down.

Once we got to the cg i switched them around now they are nice and even.
