I to was looking for some permanent attachment point for the safety chains but the entire underneath front of the Edge is closed by plastic covers, all the way past the front Axel. I like Denver Transplant's idea, maybe a plastic/rubber covered cable, or chain through the wheel, with the safety chains though eyes on each cable/chain.

Straps from Amazon and cables from e-trailer. Cables are plastic coated and usually used with some baseplates. Plastic coating prevents wheel damage

It stores under the rear of the motorhome in most locations. Can be moved by hand (although sometimes not easily enough!) We have towed two different FWD Jeeps with it. Surge brakes mean nothing to hook up to a brake controller. Don't really know it is behind us except we see it in the backup camera. Does well on long downhill grades too.

Thanks for the info on the MasterTow dolly. It seems to be the consensus tow dolly used by RVers!!

Dino, check Craigslist in your area, sometimes you can get a great deal on a new or gently used dolly from them! When I bought our second dolly I found a dealer on Craigslist that had purchased several and he wasn’t selling them, bought the dolly new at a used price. Just a thought.

Thanks for the tip, may have saved the day on towing our Edge.
I was thinking of removing a couple of the covers to look for someplace to hang a cable, or chain through a hatch I would cut in the covers.
I tried to put the cable around the A arm but couldn't get it through, as I could barely reach it laying on the ground, and the fact that I was having excruciating back pain(ended up turning around coming back home after 60 miles of almost sicking pain at each bump).
I think with the cable setup I can do it all standing, as I can attach the chains to the dolly before loading, the then run the hook end through the cable eyes, and hook it back to itself.
Thanks again!
I'll post pics of my setup, when I can. Trying to rest the back, I have ongoing issues with back and neck from my 10 years in the World's Greatest Navy! 100% Disabled, but by the Grace of God still able to RV! Traded my F350 & 5th wheel for a Class A .
Ok I'll stop talking now ! Lol

This is true, I have seen some posted as well.

By the time we got around to buying, there weren't any in our area and we got such a good deal it was worth it to buy new.

Well let the a/c project begin.

New ac arrived today. Install tomorrow.

I was undecided about whether or not to do the center vent mod to direct the air down to the bed. That decision was made for me by Coleman.

Wish me luck on the install. I think the hardest part will be cleaning all the dicorp off the vent area, need a smooth surface for the ac gasket, and lifting the ac on to the roof

Best of luck Jerry. I'm sure it will all go well. Take your time & remember how much you're saving by doing this yourself.

Can't wait for you & Maria to enjoy the finished product

You’re welcome. Was curious how you plan on getting the Ac unit up on the roof ? I’ve been thinking about that Because they weigh about 85lbs

Well that's the question of the day.

One way is two guys on each side one in the middle. Lift up while climbing the ladders.

Other way is tie a rope around the ac while still in the box. Put extension ladder against the mh. One guy pull the rope other push ac up

Jerry's Hurricane mods

I was thinking something similar to Jerry but also strapping the AC in the box to a 8’ 2 x 4 and have one person on each side of it walking walking up the ladder and then having someone on top to pull it up and over on top of the roof ? I think the person on the roof could pull the Ac unit up making it lighter for the guys on the ladders?
Thick moving blankets on the sides and top for protection

You could also work from inside of pickup truck bed. You will be half way up.
