The plan for friday is doing the chf front and back plus rear trac bar on my buddies fleetwood 32h. He had it a couple of years and has complained about the ride. Ive told him numerous times to do this but hes never done it. So i made front chf brackets yesterday and hes waiting for trac bar delivery. If it gets delivered and we get it installed ill post a few pics.

Hi Jerry,
I'm about to do the CHF in the next couple weeks. Did you find that you needed to jack up the front at all, or is there enough clearance?
I'm also taking in the toad I found down in Cathedral City -- an '04 Saturn Vue w/the Honda V6 and AWD with only 65k miles -- to be fitted with a BlueOx faceplate. We're going with the Ready Brute Elite towbar/brake setup. Having the work done at Bob Miller RV out in Beaumont. Good people and fair pricing.
The next thing to do is get a TPMS that will monitor both the MH and the toad.
Cheers!
Kent

Kent,
Ive done a lot of work under the mh, front and rear, and never needed to jack it up. Im 6'4" 240 now in places its tight but very doable.

I'm about Jerry's size, a little heavier unfortunately, but I crawl around underneath the MH without to much problem. A large piece of cardboard makes sliding around a lot easier.

Thanks...good to know. I, too, seem to be 'circumferenced challenged!' Just didn't want to get into an embarrassing situation .
Did either of you find that adding a rear torsion bar really made that much of a difference?
BTW, glad to hear that you had a relaxing cruise, Jerry. That's what they're for...and you deserve it!

Jerry did the chf and track bar on his coach, all I've done is the chf. After reading Jerry's comments on the track bar I'm probably going to add one to mine. Nice thing about this thread is being able to share ideas on what works and what doesn't on a 29M, comparing apples to apples.

You might also want to go back and read where Jerry added tpms to his coach and toad. Jerry added a signal booster for better reception from the toad and his setup was pretty neat. Worth reading!

Rear trac bar is a must imo.
I was having problems with my tpms and sent it to tire minder to be tested. Got it back just before my ctuise. I have it reprogrammed but havent tested it yet. The problem was something was blocking the signal. I never got a pressure or temp change once driving. Testing showed everthing was working correctly. Tech thinks something in the dash might be blocking the signal. I need to experiment to see if i can figure out the problem

Jerry can you get a reading in the back of the coach, might need mama to help. It might tell you if something up front is blocking the signal.
I am getting my Hurricane 31s back Monday. First on the list is repairing the steering boot. Thanks for pointing out the potential problem. I would even think yo check it.
Next is the CHF and installing the 41-180 safe-t-plus steering stablizer.
Now your talking about a rear traction bar. I will have to check out how they work today.
Thanks for all the advise.

Kev see this photo. Someone here posted it first. So I checked mine and sure enough it had burst, too.
Damn can't copy photo. Of steering joint. Lube joint fills rubber boot.

Someone asked me about making the chf plates for them. I called my buddy who does the welding, drilling, and grinding and he doesnt want the liability. Sorry guys. Im attaching a diagram that might help you if you want to get them made. The diagram is for a 5" inch total plate. The guy that posted the diagram had already increased the arms of his frame rods so the plates shown are smaller. Two 4" inch plates welded together with a 1" inch over lap works well.
It time consuming but mounting the bottom plates first then marking the holes for stock, chf on the top works best.
I used 12mmX65mm flanged bolts and flanged nuts to secure the bottom of tge bracket. The top used the stock bolt from Ford. Top bolt torqued to 66 lbs and bottoms to 70 lbs blue loctite on all bolts.
If you have questions let me know.
Jerry

I installed these adjustable link bars on the front of my 2017 Hurricane 35M and they have worked out really well. Someone on another thread suggested these. The only thing you have to do is pop out the metal bushing insert from the OEM link and pop it in the Hellwig link.

Dave,
I totally agree about the value of this thread.
I did read what Jerry had to say about his TPMS early on. Since I couldn't find the model he has anymore, I started to explore what else was out there. TireMinder does make what looks to be a good system (the TM-77) and I'm impressed with what I've heard about their customer service.
I've also found another highly rated one, the EEZTire system. It can be purchased with 10 sending units, so the toad is monitored as well.
Now I just need to decide which one. The main thing is to have one. I would think that in this day and age, RV manufacturers would include this because of the safety issues. The almighty dollar strikes again.
BTW, you're getting awfully close to that next chapter in your life! That's gotta be exciting!
Cheers!
Kent
