We really love our Axis but found it to be just a little to cramped when we have anyone else with us so we chose the Hurricane over a Tiffin Allegro due to its slightly smaller size.
Before you purchase the Hellwig bars, check the OD of the Ford bars. I found mine to be practically the same as the Hellwig Heavy Duty bars I was about to buy.
Can't agree more with Jerry on the CHF, first. And also agree that you should do one thing at a time and test drive it a little to see what you think. Everyone seems to be looking for something a little different for their systems.

Dino,
Do everything in steps. First base plate. Then do the brake system one step at a time like the videos. Unless youre in a hurry you can do it and save big $$

Rear anti sway bar problem

Discovered today that sometime in the last 1200 miles the right side bushing clip on my rear anti sway bar loosened up. The top bolt is gone. Looks like the clip is bent. I removed the bottom bolt with my fingers. I will check to see if the Ford warranty covers this. Only 6900 miles on chassis. Just goes to show how important it is to crawl under and inspect these beasts on a regular basis. I am wintering in Florida near New Smyrna Beach. Could anybody recommend a Ford truck service center in the area?

Shawn,
This has been a problem for some time but normally it effect older models. You really dont need to take it to ford. Just take the remaining bolt to a good hardware stote and match it. Get a high grade bolt. Grade 8 US or 10.9 metric No cheap home depot bolt

The nut is welded to the frame so all you need to do is just screw the new bolt in. Use blue loctite and torque to 66 ft lbs
It looks like your bushing is still in good shape. If its torn up go to irv2.com and search for Skuterdude. He sells them and they are top quality.

And i would think its covered under warranty.

The bent bracket isnt really a problem. It will straiten out when the bolt is tightened

Thanks Jerry,
I will give that a try. The bushing doesn't look bad. I hope when I set everything in place I can get the bolts started and tighten things up. I wasn't sure if the clip had to be in a uniform "U" shape before I installed it. Thought it might deform the bushing. Might have to re bend the clip before I re use it. Are you using 66 ft pounds as a standard for the size of the bolt?

Shawn,
If you are comfortable doing this work it should be an easy fix If you are not then take it to Ford for warranty

If you do it then yes try to reshape the bracket. Shouldnt be to hard to do. 66 ft lbs is what Ford calls for these bolts and the bolts for the CHF. If you havent done the chf yet now would be the time since you are under the coach.

Remember to use blue loctite.

And like Dave just replied if you can find POLY LUBE add a little to the sway bar and slide the bushing into place (over the lube) Only use poly lube!!!! Do both side since you need to torque the other side as well.

Good luck and let us know how you did.

Jerry

Shawn,
One more thing I thought about. If you are having trouble lining up the bolt to screw it in you may want to remove the bolt that attached the link from the frame to the end of the sway bar. With the link attached to may be hard to line up the bracket. Hope this makes sense.

Time for some spring cleaning. Since So Cal's winter is like the rest of the countries spring i thought i would climb up on the mh roof and give it a much needed cleaning. Embarrass to say this was the first time on the roof. It was very dirty and i found two screws coming out of the roof. These screw were screwed in from the inside going up into the ceiling. Guess the crew ran out of shorter screws.

Scrubed the roof good and its drying in the beautiful 75* we are having today. Now to finish washing the rest of the mh outside.

Cant post pics anymore from my cell because they are to large. Damn upgrade to the app

Amazing what a little soap and water will do!

Jerry, before you put the Dicor on I would get a couple of stainless flat washers just big enough to fit over the screw. Stack the washers so they are slightly higher than the screw and then cover with the Dicor. If you should accidentally happen to step on the screw now you won’t puncture your foot, Owww!!! You could also use a small machine nut to cover the screw.

Great idea Dave Thanks. It should only take 1 or 2 washers. Looks like someone had already stepped on it causing the tear in the roof.
