Thick moving blankets on the sides and too for protection
Same idea i mentioned but without the 2x4. With 2 lifting 1 pulling from the roof it wont be a big deal.

We will lift it up and set it on a 6 ft ladder. Then push pull the other 5 ft.

Jamie my buddy thats helping has a lift but its not worth the 30 minute drive to get it then bring it back.

Im not worried about getting it up there.

Like i said the think the hardest part will be getting all the dicorp off tge roof around the openning.

I bought some eternalbond tape to cover the screw holes. From wgat i read it needs a clean surface free of dicorp

Find a tall tree, hoist the AC, back under the AC. And before you laugh I did this when I had to change an AC that got fried by lightening and didn’t have any help!!!

So a/c is up on the roof and semi wired up. My buddy ended up bring his lift. It lifted it about 3 ft from the roof. He and another friend pushed up as i pulled it up and on to the roof. Very simple and easy. Before bringing it up i pulled the 28 screws out of the vent and cleaned all the dicorp and buetal tape off the roof. This took about an hour to clean up. I then put eternabond
Tape around the vent to cover the screw holes

To my surprise i found two 12 volt wires in the vent. Used these to pull the romex from the vent to the cabinet above the bed. Used 12 ga wire here and it will terminate in the cabinet at the 20 amp breaker box that will be mounted in the cabinet. From the breaker to the cg pedestal will be 10 ga wire.

Had to order the wire from home depot. It will be there tomorrow. So the rest of the wiring and outside plug install will be tomorrow or sunday.

Bolted ac down installed the ceiling unit and done.

Overall this, was a very easy mod. The only difficult part was fishing the wire down the bathroom wall to the floor. We have 1 wire in the wall now. Waiting for home depot to deliver

Last weekend we were up on Lake Erie and the temps were mid 90's and only down to 80 at night. With Both AC units running it brought the temps down to 72 and shut off after about 4 hours. From there they had no problem holding temps, I did have shade on one side of the rv though.

You're going to really benefit from the second a/c -- especially with all the camping you do here in SoCal. Great job on the install. Will you be able to run both a/c's with your gen running?...or only at the cg off the power post?

I'm gonna have to cook up some banana-blueberry pancakes and mesquite thick-cut bacon on the Blackstone to celebrate your a/c install! Always looking for reasons to celebrate!

A/C is up and running. Took some temps. Room temp 78* ac blowing out 53*. 25* different. Think we will now need lots of blankets.

So home depot never came through with the 10 ga stranded wire i ordered. Was,suppose to be delivered to the store today by 11. No delivery. So instead of waiting for it we used solid 10 ga. Went into the wall way easier than we thought it would. Easy ran to under the bed where we installed a progressive industries 30 amp ems. From there we ran into a couple snags. My first pick to ibstall the new plug was next to the gen. But after thinking about it its right next to the gas fill. Didnt think thats was a good spot

So back to home depot for another 25' 10 ga romex. Also picked up flexibke conduit for the run under the mh.

This run was fairly easy but a pain to lift the conduit and zip tie it up to the main power conduit. But we got it done pretty quick.

New conduit/wire went into the sewer cargo bay with the main wires. Installed new plug and we have POWER

Took a couple of pics while working. Ill take some and post them tomortow

While under the bed we openned the transfer box to check the wiring. Found 1 melted wire nut. I dont know why they use stranded pig tails in there.

We removed the pigtails and wired it up straight with the solid wires.

So when you have time check your tansfer switch box.

Looks like you’ve made great progress!!! I was concerned about getting your wires down the walls but sounds like it wasn’t bad at all. I tried running wires down the wall in one of my other MH’s and kept hitting insulation.

Really glad you found the wire nut before it became a big problem like we had with our water heater.

With the temps you’re getting I think you may need a down comforter for the bed and a binky for watching tv. Great job

Anyone us a tow dolly, without the chains from car, to the dolly ?

Hi There

We have a Kar Kaddy SS and have used it a couple times. First with our Honda Odyssey, I took a sales person's word for it that we would have no issues. The van was 1 inch wider than max spec. So the fenders rubbed our splash guards (no biggie). The larger issue was the owner (me) not checking that the ramps were locked before unloading. It turns our they can move a little in transit. So as I pulled off it allowed the wheels to drop a little too soon and caught the plastic under-body parts and almost removed our front bumper. The return trip was fine. We have also pulled our CT-200h without issue. Over all it's great and folds nicely for a smaller footprint when stored. Yes, it's costly but so far we like the flexibility. As far as safety tie-down we loop the changes over the lower suspension with no issue. If there is a strap failure you will likely have larger problems than a tweaked suspension to worry about.

Enjoy your travels!!

Red, 20 yrs. Traveling in motorhome. Never took a car. Not saying for everyone but also a lot of freedom not pulling one. Hope your next trip is more relaxing safe travels.

Great job with he AC Jerry.

I read somewhere else on the forum that the transfer box could be an issue. So, pulled the cover yesterday. Am happy to report we are fine. Am hoping we have looked at EVERY connection now. Peace of mind is important.

Hi Rev

We don't always pull a car, but enjoy the flexibility it provides. It is FAR easier to leave a car at home, but you loose the ability to take friends family and dogs to other places while leaving camp set up.

That is good advice. I will have to check that along with what Dave mentioned regarding the water heater. It's little things like that that can ruin a good trip.

Cool job on the a/c (pun intended) and you picked a day for the install when the heat backed off a bit. It was 100 out here in Berdoo just a couple days ago. Your upcoming trip will be so much nicer now! I'm impressed...that's not something I think I would have tackled.

Kent,
Overall it wasnt really i tough job. Just took time running the wires and a couple needed home depot runs.

As,always doing it a second time would be easier.

Having my buddy Jeff help was key. He knows electrical and has every tool ever made
