Am I right there are two monitor options...1. To go adjacent to the box and 2. A second to wire up into the coach....any insights? I realize finding a path for the remote wire might be hard to find...and credible, visible point to put it a possible problem.
A lot will depend on where your transfer switch is located, ours was under the bed. You can wire in before or after the switch, I had to wire in after. The video makes it look a LOT easier than it really is. I mounted the led monitor on the side of the bed right above the fuse panel, that was the easy part. You will need #6 gauge 3 plus ground stranded wiring, you can buy it by the foot at an electrical supply house, Lowes doesn't carry it. I mounted the protector on the floor under the bed with a couple of sheet metal screws.

The protection provided is worth every penny and drop in sweat!!!

You can get genies that are wireless

You said you can get these as an upgrade did they give you a genie dvr also and is your system billed on you home account

Something for everyone to check if you haven't already: I was checking the anti siphon valves under the bathroom and kitchen sinks, both were only in about one thread, surprised they didn't fall off. It took numerous turns to get the valves tight, it would be a good idea to check yours.

Yippeee!!! I got my monitor installed today! HUGE Thank You to Oldgold, Dino, and Jerry for the great ideas and info!!!

I used the wiring from the original video switch. Red for hot, black/green for ground, white for reverse. And yes, some Einstein at Thor I guess couldn't read a wiring diagram, white should have been ground and black/green should have been reverse, pays to check. Hey it works and that's what counts. I used a Ram mount to install, I already had it and a mounting disc glued in what turned out to bee the perfect position. I used Jerry's idea and cut a small notch in the removable dash cover, worked perfect. Thanks Jerry! I didn't wire the turn signal triggers, only the backup trigger. I think I figured out the mystery purple wire, I'm guessing it's for audio?

I now have great views that I don't have to lean over to see! My only complaint is the almost black and white picture I have, very little color. I tried adjusting but attribute the poor color to what are probably inexpensive cameras from Thor. At some point I will probably change the rear camera to something better!

Great work Dave. If you only had 5 wires the purple has to be either left or right signal.

Also you gave me the idea about cutting the hole in the removable dash. You mentioned it i believe in oldgolds thread. So the credit belongs to you buddy.

I forgot about posting that to oldgolds thread, old age I guess.

I should have clarified my comment about the purple wire, I meant for coaches that have all their wiring, AND it's correctly done! I didn't check the other wires, when you said white was ground and mine wasn't that's the only one I checked. Liked your idea for full screen back up, that's why I wired in the reverse.

Jerry or Dino, do your monitors look black and white with little color too? Also I turned on the grid lines, do they just come on in reverse, didn't try it but in normal view they weren't on.

Done with projects for a while, sister in-law and oldest grandson will be here Monday, then leaving for Galveston on Friday. My best to everyone!!!

I adjusted my contrast on the monitor and more color can be seen but not much...you are right, cheap color cameras for sure!

Jerry and Dino, when you installed your surge protectors do remember the jumper that changes the time delay from 16 seconds to 136 seconds, supposed to protect the AC? I pulled the jumper off of mine to make it 136 seconds and don't like it. Any thoughts or recommendations? I'm undecided which way to go with this. Thanks!

I left mine with the 16 second delay. If i remember correctly the ac also has a delay so it wasnt needed with the surge.

And yes the grid only comes on when in reverse

Thanks Jerry! As much as I hate to I guess I'll open up the surge protector and put the jumper back on, luckily I taped it to the bottom of the case so I wouldn't lose it.

This new monitor is fantastic, I wish Dino had put his on sooner, more incentive to put ours on! LOL

I had a few problems when doing my chf too. Had to use a scissor jack to move the front swaybar, it was super tight in the bushings. The z bolts in the rear swaybar were frozen in the links, took a lot of penetrating oil and a big hammer to get them loose.

I can see what you're talking about with your front links. I didn't have problems with the bolts, just moving the bar.

If you're interested here are some 14" links to go on the front, same diameter just longer. Hope the link works but just in case it doesn't they are from Skyjacker.

Bought a padded case from Amazon. It holds the new monitor, tpms, extra batteries and o rings for the tpms, and has room for the soon to be purchased gps.

I think they could have used a little more padding, but over all im happy with it. Holds all the stuff in ine pkace so it can all be stored together.

Just got insurance renewal. They raised it from $620 to $735 a year.

Time to start shopping. Hopefully FMCA will come through.
Goodsam is a lot more money. Progressive is a couple bucks cheaper so not worth changing.

Who do you guys have coverage with????

Jerry

ps I installed a battery disconnect switch in the battery compartment today. Got tired of the parasitic power draw.

Also could not find a grommet I liked for the new monitor so I just used wire loom.

My take on insurance

Sorry folks re insurance rates...they are going up 1. People are driving more with better economy and cheap gas = more accidents...2. More texting and cell phone use contributes to more accidents, 3. Rv units are somewhat more expensive to repair or replace, 4. No airbags in many rvs..

We have 2 vehicles, boat, MH, and motorcycle insured with GEICO, they beat everyone else by a good margin.

Post a picture of your battery switch please.
