Overhead bunk & front whistling noise
Jerry, Good Luck with the surgery!
Has anyone been having an issue with the overhead bunk working it's way down when driving? When I did my walk through the bunk made a grinding noise on the drivers side but seemed to work fine. The dealer never replaced the pins for my ride home and the bunk start working it's way down on the drivers side. I took it back to the dealer and the timed/synchronized the motors and said it should be fine, again not saying anything about driving with the pins installed. Well this time the bunk can down 6 inches on the drivers side. They synchronized the motors again yesterday and said to install the pins when driving. Well on the ride home the drivers side started working down again, going down about an inch and resting on the pins. Calling the dealer again this morning. UGH!
Also am getting a either a squeaking/whistling noise from the from of the motorhome when driving 55mph or faster. Think it might be the front grill needing that smaller hole grill?

ALWAYS drive with the pins in for the overhead bunk... It can and will come down as you rattle down the road.
I have always found the weight of the bunk on the pins - and typically have to move it slightly UP to be able to easily remove the pins before lowering.
Dealer should have had the pins in place the first time you left.
(Mine doesn't come down anywhere near an inch to rest on pins - can't tell looking at the ceiling that it really shifted - but its weight is always on the pins after I start down the road.)

Talked to the dealer today, they said the drivers side motor has the braking mechanism for the bunk and they are ordering me a new motor. Also talked to Thor today and they said there are no know issues with wind noise coming from the front grill. They said that was only a ACE issue that they gave customers a piece of diamond shaped grill material to place behind the actual grill. Going to take the grill off when I get back next week and see it that is it or the opening on the hood area.

I always use the pins but find that the bunk drops about a half inch on trips; have to move it up to remove the pins as needed. Also found that one of the hood locks was installed upside-down. Easy fix.

Solar panels and solar controller
I'm taking delivery of 2019 ACE 29.3 on 7/10....have speced out a 3 panel, 150w each system with Blue Sky Controller and IPN monitor. As phase one of my work I am not upgrading the stock batteries or standard, 1000w inverter. I sought ideas and help at the Brian Boone FB group, and Brian himself plus a tech peron at Solar Biz.... part of my arrangement with my selling dealer is he's throwing in 5 hrs of labor as part of my purchase price.
My coach is said to be 'solar ready' which I'm pretty certain means a 10 guage wire (probably undersized for my panel setup) is routed from the roof to the battery compartment...if anyone with a 2017 29M or similar unit can share what prewire setup they have I'd appreciate knowing...including what type of connector box (if any) is on the roof .
My goal is to 'test drive' what I can do with just the stock batteries (2) and 1000w inverter.....we plan to boondock only a couple of nights at a time...so maybe the 1000w inverter with occassional use of the generator will do it for us....if not I would consider upgraded batteries and a larger inverter... I must admit I'm going to a fair expense for my setup but I'm viewing the cost as an intriquing project...hey, I'm a retired engineer....
Some might think I am going about my project backwards...that is why not start with bigger batteries and inverter....then, add solar later. At this point I'm committed... I have my kit of stuff on order..
Thoughts of all of those in the group would be apprecaited...if you are interested in solar I do suggest you take a look at Brian Boone's group...

When the case folds up the cells are exposed so I use the pieces of foam that were in the packing and secure them with a couple of suitcase straps to protect the cells while its stored.
The support legs are rather flimsy and the folding side supports have broken on one leg. That hasn't impaired using them though. Ill get around to replacing them with something more substantial.
The battery wiring is rather short (about 6 feet) so I made up a 20 ft #10 extension with plug in connectors. I cut off the supplied battery terminal clamps and put on the connector and made up a pig tail connected to the batteries to plug in the extension. I use this for connecting my air compressor and external maceator pump too.
