Lightbulb Under awning LED strip

I don't have any photos, so I'll have to add them later.

About a month or so ago, the white LED light strip under my 30FE's awning stopped working. I checked the 2amp fuse behind the switch, and it was good. I decided to inspect the LED strip to find multiple spots where the 'waterproof' lights were penetrated and caused them to not work. The soldered on wires at the start of the LED strip were also coming loose. I cut the wires, pulled down the plastic piece that holds the LED strip and disassembled everything. They use hot glue to hold the strip in place, so that part was a complete disaster. I had a role of RGB LEDs sitting around so I grabbed those and did some testing with the switch/wires in the coach. If you apply the RED wire to the + side on the strip and the BLACK wire to the color you want (RGB tabs on the strip) you can get them to light up in that color. Since I only wanted blue, I re-soldered freshly stripped wires to the + and BLUE tabs on the LED strip after loading the new strip into the plastic holder and re-attaching to the coach. Now I have nice blue LED lights that WORK and are fully sealed against the weather! Easy fix, took about 30 minutes total...worst part was soldering on the roof of the coach.

Nicely played.
That’s what an RV owner needs to do when an issue is encountered.

And I didn’t hear you once complain abt Thor.

Definitely not Thor's fault....it's the company that made the cheap LED strips fault! LOL!!

I was thinking of replacing the white LED strip under the awning with an RGB one so that I can change colors, if desired. Still researching where to put the control box.

If you can find where the wires enter your coach, it should be in an enclosed area (possibly under dinnette) you can put it there. I was going to go through the trouble of doing a full RBG setup, but decided that blue was the color I would primarily use so I went the easy route.

Our 2021 Vegas 24.1 came with blue LEDs. I thought they were RGB and just didn't get the remote. I will be replacing the strip with RGBW LEDs.

Note to self... be aware of possible higher amperage draw with RGB/RGBW LED strips. Sometimes it's more than you think...

Not to hijack the thread but my awning led strip has come loose and is sagging. Is hot glue going to be the recommended repair. TIA
