LED ambient light

I would like to add a blue light under the MH front console for when driving at night be able to see the floor, etc.
I think a 1ft LED strip under only the center console may be enough.

Any suggestions on what LED strip to use and how to connect it for it to turn on and off with the MH running lights?

Tks!

In the boating world there are small dim LED lights used for passageway lighting. I would start there.

No, I'd have to dig into the light switch wiring.

KISS - Just install/use a little toggle switch to turn it on as needed.

I was able to identify Motorcraft SW8618 as being the light Switch that I have but I could not find a wiring diagram for it....

You could always run a wire back into the cab; from a connection made at your DRL

I was thinking if I could identify on the connector at the headlight switch which wire is what, It will be a pretty simple install... no more than running 4ft of lil wires...

...Or even just run a wire from your dash lights

I couldn't find one right off the bat either. Time to get out a test light probe if you want to go down that path, BUT - I suspect the switch just controls a relay that sends the actual power to the running lights.

I've purchased a lot of LED light strips from this place, they even have controllers, etc. https://www.superbrightleds.com/

Any circuit with power on it when the engine is running would work for your need.

Just put a switch on the dash for your mood lighting.
By the way RED is the best for night visibility.
But BLUE is more mood related.

I already located the cluster lights fuse, it is easy access so I'll draw the positive from there and the light should turn on and off with the cluster...

Tks!
