LED Dimmer

I have a 2018 Thor ACE 30.2 with the round "puc like" LED lighting in the coach and was wondering if these lights can be dimmed by way of replacing the existing switch with a dimmer type control. If so what did you use , if not which light can be used to replace the existing ignorer to have the dimmable option?

Thanks
Armando

It's very unlikely that you can do this. 12vdc dimmable light bulbs are very rare, if they exist at all.

They do exist...
Google them, and you'll find all sorts of places that have them....
...including Amazon!

Dimmer will work

Here is the one I used in my Vegas 24.1: Search for "recpro rv dimmer" on Amazon, I did have to mount it to a small wooden plate to cover the hole made for the original switch.

I used this same switch in my 2004 Windsport. And yes, you'll have to find some kind of vanity plate to cover the OEM hole. But all in all, they worked well.

The existing LED's must be designed to be dimable.

Beyond my existing limits for project time. I'm still looking for the dimmer switch for cab dashboard lights....

More of an observation on my project skills ....

I DO have one issue I'm trying to get an answer for though - I have no backlights for the HVAC controls on the dash. Not sure if that's a burned bulb, fuse or by design on the E450 chassis. Screws with night vision having to turn on overhead cab lights to adjust heat/ac/fan after dark.

I ordered the same one but have yet to attempt the install. Does your coach have 2 separate switches controlling the same lights? Mine has a switch as you enter the coach and another outside the bathroom. This might not be the correct with for me.

Your coach no doubt uses 2 3-way switches; the switch I used would not work.

Thanks

I will use this one in the bedroom then.

Do they make 3 way dimmer switches?

Not for RV use that I've seen, but they do for houses.

Maybe get something like this that is downstream of the switches:

you can use that one, you just won;t be be able to use the two switch locations. install the dimmer on the end going to the light ( using the hot wire and the switch leg. and leave the other one ON all the time.

Our 2020 Thor Palazzo has dimming built in to the control panel light controls as well as the individual light wall panels. Try pressing and holding the switch to see if it dims or brightens.

^^^Mine does this...it's standard on the FireFly System. No one, including the dealers, seems to know this feature exist. I found it by mistake. Press and hold the button.
