LED Dimmer Switch?

2017 Axis - has anyone modified the awning led light strip with a dimmer switch? I like them but they're too bright. If I could dim them I might even quit using my candle lantern.

You will need one of these. https://www.amazon.com/Triangle-Bulb...m+dimmer&psc=1

A regular dimmer will not work on leds, takes a special type called a pwm (pulse wave modulator) switch. I believe there is a video on YouTube that sort of explains how this type of dimmer switch works.

PWM = pulse width modulation. A square wave where the "on" time of the wave is varied from 0% (e.g. off, or 0V) to 100% (e.g. completely on). The frequency of the wave stays the same, its just the width of the on time (and off time as well) that changes.

Thus you may notice some flickering in the lights (especially at the dimmest settings).

Basically it cycles on and off very rapidly which causes the dimming effect and as Jamie said it can cause some noticeable flicker at low levels. The dimmer works pretty good, problem is the size and a place to mount it.

If you roll the (electric) awning up so the lights are rolled up in the awning you can control the amount of light they put out LEDs so no worry about heat I do it all the time works great...If you roll it up backwards a little it lights up the whole campsite (flit up the hanging flap onto the awning)
