Here's a Vegas/Axis thread on front windshield cover options...
https://www.thorforums.com/forums/f2...ver-21602.html
I decided to fabricate my own shade.
Screen material from HarborFreight, a little sewing, a couple of bendable poles on each side, and small diameter bungee's.
Under $50 in materials
I do carry a short step ladder used to fasten/unfasten

Had them on our Vegas, have them on our hurricane.
Had them install on main windshield at their shop in NC
Wife and I installed the side windows, pet window and kitchen window.
Really love the shades! Makes a huge difference when RVing when it is hot and sunny.

Magna shades have been on my wish list for years now. Can’t quite get them to the top of the list due to the price. Probably will one of these days. Second AC and Snap Pads were last year’s ridiculously expensive projects. It’s always something!

I think Magnashade is a great product. The fact that you don't need a ladder is a plus. The price is the reason I went with something else.
I ordered my windshield and window covers made by SunGuard Window Covers thru RV Toy Store.com. I first ordered the Front Windshield, Driver and Passenger windows. After installation, I went back and ordered "custom window sizes" for all of my other windows (total of 7). The heat from the sun (Las Vegas) where my RV is parked in our property is brutal.
If only the price were around the same range, I would have gone with Magna Shade because of the convenience on how to install and remove the covers.

Just us, we have a 2016 Thor ACE 30.1 and opted for an inside screen as opposed to outside. Heavy duty suction cups hold it to the window and gives privacy and insulation pretty much the same, but does not get dirty from rain by being outside. But I do see many with them and most say they are great.

I bought both the windshield cover and the two side window covers last year, I recall it was $1,000.00 for everything, they are easy to put up and take down and no ladder necessary, the magnets are really strong an will grab anything metal you get too close to and when rolled up they really stick to each other, other than that they are an excellent product, I have a 2017 Axis an they had to have me verify a few measurements for the windshield an the fit is excellent

Wow, you did a great job, looks very professional. Have you done that type of work before? I see those that have used the magne shade said they work great, but the pictures show black or dark colored shades. I would think the dark color would hold the heat, were as a light or Silver color would be better to reflect the sun. Has anyone explored those colors?

I’ve seen other brands in white, also in non-screen&non-see thru material.
But this is the screen material that was available for a value price at HarborFreight.
Remember, it’s on the outside of the windshield so there’s really very limited heat induction (is it induction on conduction?? Haha)
During the day, we keep our inside shade open so we can look out and nobody sees in.
At night we lower the inside shade for privacy because people can see in when we have our lights on.
What should I do with the $800+ I saved by not purchasing Magneshade?

I also asked about a lighter color when I ordered my Magne Shade, the manufacture said after a heavy dew or rain the lighter colors will show all the crud that will wash down off the RVs roof, they said they tried the lighter colors when they first started they business an they got a lot of complaints

Thanks to all the folks that have posted there sun shade choices..
I like most struggle with the price of the Magne Shade, I do like the convenience of installation they offer, I would imagine that the quality of fabrication for the price is acceptable.
Magna Shade will be a vendor at the upcoming FMCAs event July 7th through 10th. I went ahead and pulled all the measurements they requested and will be submitting them during that event to see what if any discount they will be offering. I will post the quote for our Axis and what they are offering during that event.
I would be attending but the Canadians still have the boarders locked down for travel through from Alaska. Not interested in flying or missing out on upcoming salmon fishing on the Kenai River.
