On our Christmas trip we ran across a new issue. My wife gave way to her normal co-captain chair to my son so she sat at the dinette table the entire journey. She frustrated because she had to keep recharging her laptop or phone at one of the other outlets that was supplied by the inverter. I eventually rigged up an extension cord plugged into an overhead cabinet that feeds the Main TV so we were survived
But I wanted to install a new outlet that was under the dinette bench, so it would not have messy looking wires all over the place.
So I pulled out my the electrical drawings for my rig and found a throw in wire #6, spliced it inside a new junction box (from Lowes $6) that feeds my new valterra rv/marine receptacle and we are now in business.
I think the pictures tell the story.
1. - Is where I wanted to install the new 110vac receptacle
2. - Is the existing receptacle but it is not on the Inverter supplied circuit
3. - Location of Inverter remote switch (not relevant; but someone may ask)
4. - Location of overhead cabinets, not pictured but yo can visualize wires hanging down from that cabinet to charger a phone or laptop to see the problem I was trying to solve
Note: I could have attempted to wire direct into existing junction box, but I though I would leave the OEM wiring in tact short the the one splice I made. The 2nd picture where circled in Red shows existing white junction boxes, the green square is the location I wanted to cut into bench for the new receptacle.
