I have an ambarella a7 mini 80x dash cam which I swap between car and rv. I have it mounted with velcro instead of the glue pad that comes with it. On the Vegas, I have it mounted low on the windshield, almost resting on the dash. It almost blends in with the dash and is not readily seen from the outside.

As far as recording day and night, it is great. I have it set for 5 min. video clips continuously and leave it plugged in on most trips when moving or parked for a short time. I have a 64gb card which is good for over 100 hrs of recording time and only format to erase every few days. It has a built in gps which records time in GMT, lat., long. speed and sound. Sound can be turned off.

For the cons mostly minor;
It runs very hot and I have made some sun shades in both vehicles to help keep the heat load down.
The battery in the little guy is very short on duration and needs to be plugged in full time. Another reason for mounting it low next to dash so cord would not be dangling, but most likely could be wired in permanently to work on-off with ign from roof or down side of windshield post.
It also interferes with FM radio when plugged in. Bad shielding. Still working on that.
Manual is not that good and requires some practice to become familiar with operation.

Overall, I am pleased with the performance after a month or so operation. There are a lot of dash cams to choose from, $$$ wise and purpose.

I like the Garmin NuviCam. It solves two things in one unit.

I haven't looked at the video at night. I'll get the camera this evening and let you know how it looks. I bought this model based on another post on IRV2 (I think). I didn't want to spend a lot and I didn't need GPS. I also liked the idea that it does not use a battery which would probably not last long being in direct sun and heat. The downside is that unless it is plugged in it won't work. I have it connected to a switched receptacle that I installed. It is on when I have the GPS, Even Break and TPM monitors powered up.

There are a gazillion dash cams out there and most are not very expensive. However, knowing which one to buy is tough. I can't decide so haven't bought one. Does anyone know of any sites with comparisons, such as tables or charts comparing features?
