7-pin and 12v source

Hi, does anyone know if the 7-pin connector at the rear of the coach can be used to tap into a constant 12v power source?

Reason I ask: I'm setting up my toad and have a brake system that requires constant 12v power. Rather than plug into the cigarette lighter type source, I want to power it from the coach so it doesn't deplete the toad battery in transit.

If you are using a successful solution to this, can you go into a little detail?

Thanks.

Most of those 7 wires are small gauge to operate not much more than a couple of lights...do you know what amperage the braking system requires? The center pin is reserved for reverse lights, if needed. That one may work depending on amp draw, etc.

It's pretty easy to start popping fuses, when you overload those circuits.

Don't ask me how I know this...

I don't and unfortunately I'm not near the rig right now. Both really good thoughts though. I didn't look at it that way and should have. That wouldn't have happened when wearing a younger man's clothes.

I'll just run a separate wire with an inline fuse and try to bundle it together with the others in one neat little run.

Thanks for the feedback/input, as always.

The 7-pin should have a charge wire but I doubt its fused for more than 10amps or so. Here is a bunch of wiring diagrams, pick one LOL (yeah ok just look at the vehicle side 7-way one):

Update: it's right in the 'Trailer Wiring Code' section as: "Battery Red (or Black) 12 Fuse block or FUSED battery Lead Break away kit, interior lights and battery charger "

You're a wealth of knowledge - huh?
Looks like it can be used for electric brakes. I imagine () that could throw more than 10 amps when engaged. I also see where they have an Aux/ABS Power pin. Also a good sign. I have some homework to do and they're really good at answering questions.

Thanks for the tip (and link).

No, the "Electric Brakes" is a different wire than the constant 12 VDC Charging Wire.

When I wired up my stay and play braking system I went ahead and hooked it to the battery and then I went ahead and added a charge wire to keep the battery charged my 2014 freedom elite 7 Pin plug does have a charge line to it
one thing that it’s only hot when the RV engine is running main reason I did this for time reasons if you do have a breakaway you’re breaking up system will still use it but toad battery to stop your toad

Sorry, trying to get my head wrapped around this.

The coach has a built-in charge wire or just a 12v source? I'm wondering where the regulator is located and how the battery is kept from overcharging. As far as I know, the regulator is located in the alternator and not in an external location to be 'incorporated'.
