Questions: JBV1 and Valentine radar detector? Radar Weather App?
I read about this Technology on another thread from some random Duck Guy in Arizona.
I then watched a few videos last night and have basic understanding. Anybody using JBV1 in conjunction with Waze?
Anyone using without the Valentine Radar detector? If so; what benefits or features do you see with only the JBV1 App and Waze?
Likewise I understand there is some Radar Weather App? My Garmin RV890 one day popped up some severe radar one day when we were heading into a storm in New Mexico. I didn't know the Garmin RV890 could do that. It was great. But if I can have something in addition to my Garmin help with weather that seems like it would be relevant especially, if it may be free like Waze?
All help and thoughts appreciated.

Here ya go...
https://youtu.be/X5NxweDP6WI?si=FZQdY_GTbjMdxqFm
Looks to be "speed trap centric" with other features added. To me, the "other features" sound interesting... the speed trap and police radar detection, not so much... at least in the motorhome. I leave my Mario Andretti cap at home when driving the motorhome... usually under the speed limit anyway and never over 65. I prefer not to become another preventable casualty while also ruining someone else's day in the process.
I haven't used a radar detector since my 30s. We saw less than 5 highway patrol cars doing obvious traffic control between Ohio and Colorado... both ways. As a result we saw countless speed, reckless and equipment violations. To be sure, a 70mph limit on Ohio freeways is merely a suggestion... with VERY LITTLE enforcement. Average speed is closer to 80mph.
I'll have to see if there's a GitHub repository. Might be fun to make a fork geared toward motorhomes... if it's open source.

Ahh so that is what I have been missing.... my Mario Andretti cap? You think that is all I need?
That feature to capture police in the air is what I need the most, if I am in RV, I can never escape the helicopters (I need a RV HEMI V10)
Seriously, I dumped Radar detectors when Escort started charging fees to make that ridicules Live Traffic cord work. I was frustrated to wit's end; until I read about Waze on their own forum from other disgruntled drivers. Free and Dkoldman go hand and hand. Waze was 100x ahead with the technology to make it a simple no brainer.
I actually just turned on my Waze to head to work, I will watch the video tonight. Thanks

The closest you can get to that is with a RAM Pro-master class B camper van with a V6 3.6 Liter Pentastar 24 valve V6. While it is not advertised as a Hemi engine it is in fact a Hemi design.

No shop is interested in adapting my 3.6 Pacifica to the jeep 3.6 aftermarket blower kit. They're too busy installing blowers on jeeps bought for $20k over sticker.
This is the only reason my mommy van(a lifted [no sumo used]awd limited) isn't 420hp right now.
Tuner kits for these are like 5star tuners for 6speed ford trans...worthless because the factory left nothing on the table.
Jbv1 is very odd and I had it a year before I ever began to figure it out because it was so busy doing 200 things.
It overlays waze...sorta.
It taps the waze info at its source using waze group-grope then adds precise data from valentine users. If you have a Valentine yourself you can actually follow cops down the road and see when your radar unit picks them up.
We don't speed except we do travel in what we call
95% of traffic.
For every 95 vehicles we pass, in what we'll call 20miles(varies by the very moment),
5 pass us.
So if traffic is doing 80 or 70 in a 75...we do to due to traffic patterns.
shows slow downs sometimes by which lane,
It is a VERY busy screen.
Not so rv useful except in speed traps.
We watched 20 pullovers in a fifty mile section somewhere near that
South of the border theme park...maybe on the carolina borders?
The pics are from the stand alone.
I'm sitting in my living room.
See those 8 lasers?
Yup.

I did a little more research and found the below.
How to Run JBV1 Standalone
JBV1 home screen with blue start button
If you’re not a V1 user, you can still run JBV1 and take advantage of many of the features it offers (ie. crowdsourced alerts, weather info, RLC alerts, or speed limit info). You’ll need to first enable standalone mode since it’s off by default.
Here’s how to activate standalone mode:
Menu
Settings
Connection
Other Options: Standalone
Standalone Mode Unlocked
Connect Starts Standalone
Then from the main screen, hit the blue “Start” button at the top to launch JBV1 in standalone mode. (Before you follow these steps, the blue “Start” button will say “Connect” to connect to a V1.)
Have Questions Using JBV1?
If you have additional questions (you probably will) or need any help with the app, the best place to get support is the JBV1 section of RDF. Chances are your question may already be answered there. In case it hasn’t been, @johnboy00 himself or one of the many other JBV1 users can help answer your questions.
My interest is only in standalone. I may try it out, but will wait until after the holiday because I may have to make a trip. I don't want to learn on the job.

For the record, most of my tickets were not for speeding by my definition, but being tricked by a police officer hiding around a sudden drop in speed limit sign. I have seen a sign that says 75mph and 100ft later another said 35mph. With Waze I know about the hiding officer a full mile a way with Waze. I don't know where the JBV1 is getting it crowd data ( may be same as Waze?) I have an old phone I may pull it out and use it. I have Wifi in my car or RV so I may be able to play with soon enough.

Was that the guy Richard Petty was always passing in the Blue Red #43 Stock Car Seems like I remember them putting a limit on how many times #43 could lap cars? Then when Petty retired #3 became famous?

He was also the guy who died from
Being too cool to try the new safety equipment.
Remembrance is an odd thing.
