Quiet down water pump?
We have a '19 Miramar 37.1. Our water pump is in our basement storage area. It is made of plastic. The pump is pretty loud when working. I was thinking about trying to quiet it down some by isolating it better from the plastic and maybe some insulating. Has anyone done this? What did you do?

Ours is located under the bed. I added a thick piece of soft rubber under the pump which has made a considerable difference in the pump vibration noise. Also check the Plex pipes to make sure they are not touching the floor or walls as they can also transfer the vibration noise.

When I did doghouse I used a piece of leftover dynamat and put it under the pump. I then used some rubber washers on the screws to help reduce vibration through the mounting screws to the storage compartment floor. Not perfect but it did reduce the noise inside the coach.

when I moved our water pump from the wall-mounted area in the passenger side water tank bay over to the sewer/wet bay, I found that our dog's silicone 'bowl' worked perfectly as a place to 'sit' the water pump in, as it really didn't need to be fastened down to anything - no more noise...
problem is, though, now I CAN'T hear it! and the dog is sad.

There are several threads on this in the forum. On our previous 24.1 Axis, of course Thor installers did not use flexible water lines connecting the pump. I moved ours off of the floor and mounted it vertically against the side of the bed with rubber bushings too. Use your imagination to isolate the vibration and it will be much better.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I will take a look once it dries out a little outside.

It’s something to consider when shopping for an RV. All of my previous RVs had them indoors under a bed or a sofa. My current machine has it outside in the wet compartment where it’s easy to work on and can’t be heard at all from inside. There is actually a light on the wall so you know it’s on! Genius.

House water pump noise
The ones delivered with RV's tend to be very loud. There are replacements that claim to be quieter. The water pumps are normally rubber shock mounted so you could remove the pump and wrap it with some insulation but most of the noise is being transferred through the mounting bolts so stiffening the board that the unit is mounted on may help. Sometimes these are mounted on a 1/8' paneling that acts as a resonator so if you add say a heavy piece of metal (or 1" thick plywood) under the unit passing the mounting bolts through it will lessen the resonant effect.
If someone has replaced their water pump with a claimed "quieter" unit, please send the model number and manufacturer and your results; that would be useful to all RV owners.

Installing flex hoses on the inlet and outlet of the pump then installing foam pipe insulation on the hard plastic lines near the pump (where I could) quieted mine down quite a bit. It is installed under the dinette bench.
I also installed an expansion/accumulator tank on the pump outlet, so it doesn’t come one right away. when the faucets are opened

Well I installed some foam pipe insulation on the pipes that were touching the sides of the water bay. I also put some of the insulation under the pump mounts and then screwed it back down. It definitely quieted it down. We are going camping in two weeks. We'll see what the DW thinks.
Thanks all for the suggestions.

Glad to hear that you're now able to hear other stuff in your RV!

Really it wasn't that loud in the rig. It was more outside especially on the drivers side (so other campers that might be next to us). DW never complained but I just want to see if she notices any difference.
