Recliner install in a 28Z

For those with the Chateau 28Z. YES you can install a recliner in place of the crappy jack-knife sofa.

We originally replaced the Jack-knife sofa that came with the unit with RecPro Euro Recliner Chairs (58 inch wide model) We did like them, but was a pain always having to move them around depending on the seat position you wanted at the time.
We now chose to go with a RecPro Zero Wall Hugger Recliner w/ removable center console. Fully extended from the wall to the dinette is 64 inches and in full recline position is 62 inches. To get all I can out of the space, I modified the window sill to reduce the depth by 1 inch. If we did not have the outside TV option it would have fit even better.
When the slide is closed we have 10 inches of walkway. Sorry did not measure it while I had the slide open (and couch is NOT reclined) It should be about 28 inches since the slide is approximately 18 inches deep.
We went with the 58 inch and not the 64 so the passenger seat is able to recline. Thats a big deal when your traveling. I noticed that the factory recliner/couch is 64 and the passenger seat cannot recline at all. Also I read it is only a partial recliner.

We bought one as well and am waiting to uncover rig and install. Our old one has leather rash.

The only way to install is to utilize the rear bracket along the back side of the couch. I drilled a hole through the floor and nut and bolted it. Cannot get to anything in the front. The two section just interlock together. I would suggest having a few plastic tie straps to secure the two sections together. Strange how there is really nothing on it that would facilitate bolting it to an RV. It's like they take a regular couch and say it's an RV couch. Stiil, we are very happy with it. It's firm but comfortable.
