what is it for?
Ok one of the things left behind is a slide lock. The way I read the description on line it's for use when you travel to keep the dust/water seals tight.
i'm not sure where and why you'd need it. Maybe on top of the slide once it is retracted.
Any ideas? here's a link to the site.

some come with 'slide locks', while other don't, but the necessity of them is unclear, as some are bound to use them, while the rest of us never have...
while I understand that there may be a 'fear' that the slides could somehow 'extract' themselves while moving or driving, it's really just a fear. Slides mechanics are designed to only 'move' the slide room with some type of power, such as 12v motors or 12v hydraulics. Neither of these will typically work while the motorhome is in gear, or some won't work even with just the ignition 'on', like mine, a safety feature.
I've never used any type of slide lock in over 90,000 miles... though I've driven with the slides open around a parking lot, or with our main slide slightly open when it had a gear track problem, and that was for over 1,000 miles back to the factory.
Use one if you feel like you should, don't if you don't...
our motorcoach even has a 'warning' label in the cabinet above the entry door, above the main slide switch, which reads something to the effect of "always remove slide locks before operating slides, and always reinstall slide locks before moving", or similar. The coach did not come with any slide locks, and I believe these are just the 'typical' warning disclaimers provided by any/every manufacturer for any/every RV with slide rooms.

I was told the slide lock is for use to keep the slide in when traveling in case of a slide motor failure. It goes on top inside the RV.

what's if for
That's kinda what I thought, if you had a loose slide or a water problem that would pull the slide in tight. No sticker on this coach just found this in one of the cabinets only took 5 months to get around to looking it up.
Sounds a lot like a salesman enlarging his commission these things run between $24 90 bucks each
Thanks for the information

I find when we use ours that during driving the squeaks and creaks from the slide are a lot less. Big problem is remembering that it’s there before trying to open the slide out once we arrive. Big post it note goes on the slide button

Mine came with 2 slide locks. Since I have them I use them. One behind drivers seat on the side where the top bracket is and the other in the bedroom on top by the tv.

Jerry, With all the other nosies, I'm not sure if I hear the slides moving.
Do you put them in the middle of the slide vs either end (on top)?

Use ours when I think of it. Put a foot of orange flagging tape on it so I don't forget it's up there. Because of what it braces against most likely won't do much.

I put one on the slide wall directly behind the drivers seat. There is a metal bracket about 3/4 up the slide. The bar goes in between the metal bracket and the coachs side wall
The other bar goes on top in the bedroom. Its a pain to get to the end of the slide on the 29m which is why i put it on top
I have seen several people make there own slide bar out of 2x4s made into a T shape. The top of the T goes against the slide the bottom towards the wall

Can you post a picture that shows them in place?
Thanks!

what is it for?
I’ve never used one but did cut a piece of 2x2 to fit snugly between the sidewall and the top lip of the slide on my first slide equipped RV. My plan was to have it Incase I ever had to manually retract my slide and wanted to drive without reengaging the motors. Never did that though and never made them for more recent units.

ok Bob
I put on a tshirt and braved the freezing 55* cold front we are having to get a few pics for you
Pic 1 side of slide showing the metal slude bracket
Pic 2 slide bar atrached. Notice its at the bracket. More support at the bracket
Pic 3. Possition in bedroom where bar is attached
Pic 4. Bedroom bar in place
As you can see i tied a strip of material to the bar to hopefully remind me it there and to remove before extending.

Yeah, I got one of those. Thought it was for keeping the slide from coming 'in' cause the kids would think your control is the TV control and surprise! Didn't know it was also for other uses. Ain't got no kids so don't use it.

Love the do rag hanging. I don't think Miss Linda would allow that

GREAT pictures, that show how things fall together!
My Outlaw didn't have those locks, and neither does the Wayfarer.

Our Axis came with one of those locks. Haven't used it yet--its buried in one of the outside storage compartments. I like the idea of a "flag" indicating that they are there.
My only thought is perhaps you should get some of those " Remove before flight" tags and use those instead of just some white cloth.

Get a bunch of those and put em all over the stuff you need to put away, store or close. I used to use chocks for the wheels and blocks for the levelers that had wires with handles on them. Maybe get a smaller one for your antenna handle to remember to lower it.

The full wall slide on our 32n would creep out as much as an inch when driving on twisty mountain roads. I added a couple of slide lock bars (didn’t come with the coach) and the problem is resolved. It seems to me to be a good idea in general because it takes the load off the slide mechanism when traveling.

That's a good idea. So far our shorter slides doesn't seem to move. But anything to prevent wear on the slide parts will save money down the road
