I have to credit my wife with this one. She was concerned that the RV was too hot. She purchased two rolls of Reflectix at Home Depot and started lining the cabinets, then the closets, then the large door to the outdoor kitchen. She even used a large cutting of the 48" to completely cover the cab side windows and windshield (when parked). The results were amazing. RV much more comfortable. She used velcro to secure the reflectix.

Yep, that stuff is amazing. It works well in the winter to keep the heat inside as well.

I been thinking about putting him my upper cabinets as well.

I will keep in all my windows at night when the AC is on....Keeps the cold Inside the RV that way its not running as much at night.

In fact I will crack it down to 68 deg at night before I go to bed then turn up to 75 deg. so I dont hear it kick on until like 5 or 6am. The darn AC wakes me up.... Im working on ways to quiet it down when I have time I will post my results.

I pretty much leave the bedroom windows covered year round. Besides helping to maintain interior temps (both summer and winter) the material helps with light diffusion for late morning sleep in. Also cover the shower skylight. Another big heat source.

I put a free sample of my clear ceramic window tint on the inside of the shower sky light. It cuts out most of the heat and allows all the light into the bathroom. Plus its one less thing I have to do in order to reject heat when its hot outside.

I added insulating inside cabinets and the shower skylight to the list.
I already had adding it to the ceiling vent covers on the list.
Hell, it's just a list....

If your like me, Just as I cross off one mod off my list I add two more.

I never get caught up. Good thing im handy.... But I guess most of these mods are not really needed....I just think it make my RV a little better or more confortable etc. The wife likes most of the mods (others she dont even notice but thats Okay.... I notice them).

When it cools down I hope to cross off half my list .... just in time for the spring .... by then my list will grow again.

I was watching a YouTube video about someone lining the inside of their cabinets with Reflectix. They said it worked really well but in the comments section there were numerous responses that lining the wall would result in mold behind it. There were others that said Reflectix would not keep it as cool
/ warm as everyone was saying. And yet others said that it could cause double pane windows to lose their seal.

All I know is that my rig is too hot in summer and too cold in winter. I’d love to try a few of the Reflectix suggestions but am worried that the negatives will outweigh the positives.

Has anyone had any bad experiences using Reflectix?

I use the stuff when my coach is in storage on the windshield and large front windows mostly to minimize sun damage to the shades. I have used it on really hot days in camp and it does help quite a bit. It’s not very pretty though.

my wife made windshield cover with the stuff and used a bright tropical fish pattern on inside and deer on the outside of the screen,. We also removed the interior skylight fascia thing over the shower and made a piece and covered it with an owl print and then sandwiched it between the outer skylight and the inner fascia plastic



huge difference in shower temps in the summer.


i put button snaps on the top of the window screen and attached the receptacles on the front fascia board under existing screws

One of these came with our new to us Citation, it was such a good idea I added refletix to the other vent pillows, shower skylight, cabinets, windshield, all other windows and behind the couch.

Yep, these Camco RV Vent Insulator And Skylight Cover With Reflective Surface work pretty well. However, it may be worthwhile to put them in a plastic bag too. 'Cos they do deteriorate over time and drop a buch of silver flakes all over.

we have also used some much better stuff from insualtion4less.com its a closes cell 10mm foam between two sheets of reflective alum stuff.
