Removing Jackknife sofa

About to remove a 68" Jackknife sofa from a Chateau 28Z.

Would anyone who knows care to share the best way to disassemble and extract the piece?

Hi Myron,
When I removed a 70" jackknife sofa from my Outlaw: getting it loose was really easy.
Mine was held to the wall with about four bolts (and a bracket.).
As for getting iy ouy of your rig: there's no easy disassembly of those things.
If you can't get it turned to get out the main door: try taking it out the chassis doors up front.
You'll need to wangle your chairs around a bit; but you should be able to find enough space to get the job done.

I removed the 68 inch jackknife sofa from our Freedom Elite 30FE, by disassembling it inside the camper. Took the seat and backrest off the base and took it out folded up. Then I removed the two base supports (LH and RH) and arm rests from the floor. I was a bit surprised at how the bases were attached to the floor in that the hardware they used seemed undersized imho.

Mind pops out to crappy bed and L shaped sofa, sucks as bed but nice as sofa

I slid mine out from the wall, removed the ends then slid out the door.

I guess I should have tried before asking as it was quite easy. The sofa seat and side panels came apart with just four nuts each and the assembly was disassembled, out the entry door, and reassembled within about 45 minutes. Thanks for the suggestions.

We also have the 28Z. We installed 2 Euro recliners from RecPro since I did not think theater seats would fit (head to foot when fully reclined) due to the Outside TV box protruding into the unit. Curious, Let me know how it works.

The Jack Knife sofa comes fully apart. Just need to unbolt it fully. Will come out in pieces.

The covering on our jack-knife sofa is deteriorating and I can see maybe re-covering in the future. I’m thinking I’ll take it out to the upholstery shop.
Has anyone taken out / reinstalled the jack knife sofa in an Axis 25.2? (it has the fresh-water tank under it – no slide out)
If so … any points or guidance? Thank you.

I have. It is very simple. Just look around it for a few bolts. Not much to it at all.

When I removed the Jack Knife sofa from our Accolade I had four screws that mounted it to the slide floor and then I removed a few screws to remove the arms making it easier to get out of the coach and to store.

It fits fine. Tight but works. I haven't bolted it down yet and may not. When it's upright, pushing it tight against the sidewall gives plenty of room to walk by with the slider in. It will recline some, but not all the way. Pulling it out about 3-4 inches allows it to recline all the way. Although if the slider is in, the footrest brushes against the dinette sidewall when fully reclined. With the sidewall out there is plenty of room. We put rubber feet on the base legs and it doesn't move at all when driving but still allows manual movement when needed. If I do bolt it down it would be away from the wall for full recline. Overall we're very pleased with the upgrade. Very comfortable. I don't have a photo host to post pix here but happy to text photos.
