Renogy Battery Monitor

My daughter gifted me a Renogy Battery Monitor for father's day. Great kid. Anyway three days of contortion and cabinet disassembly-reassembly and low and behold I now have a slick shunt based 500a monitor. I elected to use a blank space over the stove to the right of the factory sensors. Nice fit but a real pain fishing the wiring. The end result looks pretty decent.
The instructions are as I read in a previous post are written in Chinenglish. I got the install connections all correct but the User settings are somewhat of a mystery so I'm hoping for some guidance in exactly what to enter.

I have two Renogy AGM 100ah batteries in parallel and all seems to work well. Anyone have a similar setup?

Similar in that I also have that battery monitor installed in the wall above my Thor Control/Indication panel and I also have 200 AH but in Lithium, not AGM.

I didn't have any problem with the manual. I've seen muuuuuch worse Chinglish manuals. This one does not seem like chinglish to me.

Download the manual here:

Thanks Ted. I had downloaded that manual but the monitor came with a different rev 3 manual.Anyway just fuzzy on user data values. I think i need to set the ah capacity at 200. The high and low voltage alarms I think should be 13.2 and 12.2 respectively. The Attenuation value is a mystery to me. Any thoughts? I know these are different from lithium being of agm flavor but the science should be similar?

OR fully charge the battery.

I could see a fully charged battery and push the button so it knows what a full charge is. How low does it want a person to go to recognize a dead battery

I'm still guessing here but it seems it reports the state of charge and it's up to the user to set hi/low value alarms based on size/number/conf of your setup. I still have no clue what to enter for Attenuation? Maybe a battery guru might step up here.

"Battery Attenuation Ratio: After the battery Capacity cumulatively once per cycle, The capacity value is automatically changed according to this ratio"

It's an automatic battery capacity reducer. It reduces the battery capacity by a certain percentage after each cumulative full cycle.

So in your case, it would reduce the battery capacity by X after 200 AH have been discharged/recharged. Most people leave it at zero since they don't have that real information from the battery manufacturer.

I tested my lithium batteries before installation and they were at 105 AH each before the low voltage cutoff by the BMS. So I set my capacity at 200 AH and if it changes over the years to something less I'll worry about changing the battery monitor setting then.

I think I got it. Thanks for the info and I'll leave it alone for now. The important things to me are remaining capacity in ah and voltage which it seems to show at a glance.

Exactly!

Plus charge and discharge rates, especially when boondocking.
