We really wanted to do this in our 31L but would not fit with the console. Lacks about 1 - 2 inches.

Doc, your recliners look like the ones in our 2016 Jayco Alante. They were a factory option I believe. They are very comfortable, and sleep good too. This was one thing that I wanted in a coach.

We got ours thru Camping World. On my last trip to CW in Statesville NC some 2 months ago they had some setup on the show room floor.

And you are correct, they sleep very well!

do it yourself replace couch w/recliners

We have a 2015 Vegas and brought it home out of storage today. We are seriously considering taking the couch out ourselves and replacing it with two recliners. The recliners we found 33" width and 39" depth and the area where the couch and slide 68" Has anyone done this project themselves? We really like Doc Mike's though we would save a considerable amount of money buying the chairs other than Camping World and replacing ourselves. Has anyone tackled this project themselves? We appreciate any suggestions and advice. The forum is a wealth of information and great modifications.

We are planning on an extensive road trip soon and looking for comfort rather than the uncomfortable couch.

Regards,
TexVegas

DocMike,

We removed our couch and intend to install the dual reclining chairs we ordered. We were unable to order the Heritage collection like you have but found something similar (Thomas Payne Grantland) waiting on our shipment. When you had yours installed did the installer remove the rack that holds the table behind the couch? We are looking forward to your reply. Also are you still happy with your dual reclining seats?
Regards,
TexVegas

Tex,

We still enjoy the recliners...very inducive to sleeping while watching TV!!

Yes we left the table holder in place. I did place a nice new thick white sock over each of the table legs so as to avoid scratching the back of the chairs.

If/when we change vehicles we will be sure to have recliners from the get-go or have them installed prior to delivery.

We hope you will enjoy the recliners. Safe Travels.

Are you able to recline the full length of the chair?
The specks want 16" space off the wall.

On the ones we have there is 8.5" of space from the back of the head of the chair and the wall. The mount for the table holder is in place and there is even room (on the floor) for the carrying case for the Magna Shade covers to sit between the table holder and the recliners.

Doc, are yours locked in place or do you have to slide them out from the wall?

coachk,

Huh? The recliners slide out and forward with out regard to the Slide unit. Either way you can walk around the foot of the units.

I had the same ones put in my ACE. They fastened them to the floor but there's a lot of play in them. I have to pull them from the wall to be able to recline if that makes any sense. In other words they are fastened to the floor but the whole thing slides forward & back.

I purchased my zero wall hugging reclining sofa from Rec Pro for $749.00 with free shipping. Much cheaper and better than the ones from Camping World IMO

We used the recliners from RecPro.com. The color was dark (mahogany) but that was what we were looking for it matched dark leather sides of the captain's chairs. Price was $799. We also got extra fabric to cover pieces for trimming out the chairs on the bottoms and sides. It was about 66" wide even though they said they were 67". So we had about 1" of space on each end. Fully reclines with ease. The backs come off, it breaks down into 5 pieces and can easily get through the door.

Did they charge you for the extra fabric and did you install them yourself?

The fabric was $10/yard. My wife says that's pretty cheap. We bought a couple of yards to do things other than the chair trim if needed. Yes, I did it myself. It took about 1 hr to remove the old sofa and 2 hrs to install the chairs. Here is a thread answering questions about the installation that someone had asked.
