Hellwig vs Roadmaster sway bars

Hi,

Looking for the most recent opinions.
I have a 2022 Thor axis on a 2021 e350 chassis.
I just installed Bilsteins all around.

Thanks in advance.

I put Hellwig front and rear sway bars on my 2018 Outlaw 29H (E450) and they made a big difference.

I recently installed a rear Roadmaster sway bar on my '20 Magnitude SV34. I went with Roadmaster because the Hellwig option was no bigger in diameter than the stock sway bar. Also, Hellwig did not stock sway bars for the F550 and they were manufactured to order, which takes 8 - 10 weeks.

I'm very happy with the Roadmaster for my SV34. I've used other products from both companies and I think they both make quality products.

Collectively, it sounds like there's no real difference in performance. A complete set for my motorhome, from either brand, is just under $1000.

Thanks for your advice.

I DIY installed Helwig Sway Bars on my E450 chassis.
The Ford OEM stock sway bar is whimpy, very small diameter.
Helwig is much larger diameter bar.
Before Helwig…the rig swayed significantly.
After Helwig…minimal sway.

I went with Helwig brand vs Roadmaster because of price.
IIRC…the two bars on Amazon were under $650 (in 2018).

Note: suggest you replace the End-Links as well. Ford OEM end links are very small compared to the robust Moog brand end links. IIRC…Moog’s were $50 for the pair.

Wow, that is a good price.
Do you recommend new end links for front and back?

Thanks.

A few months back Helwig did not offer a 2022 E350 front bar. They said the 2021 may fit but at the time they had not been able to confirm. So, we installed front Roadmaster and rear Helwig. They may have one for 2022 by now. But if not Roadmaster is a good one. Kept the factory end links.

Installed Helwig on the rear. The 2022 Axis 24.1 E-350 has brake line and brackets on the rear drivers side where the standard Helwig mounting parts go. It makes a very poor assembly. I called Helwig to discuss this and they immediately shipped out much better end links.
See this thread for the part numbers. The improved end-links were just right!

On the Helwig…the rears come with end links that are larger/stronger than OEM
The fronts do not include end links

On my 2019 E450 25.6 Axis I bought front and rear Hellwig but after eTrailer sent me the wrong rear sway bar twice, I finally found it elsewhere. When I went to install it, it required me to identify a spot on the frame to drill a hole for, I believe, the top of the link that would be perfectly perpendicular to the ground when on all 6 tires. I had zero interest in drilling into my frame or trying to guess the correct location for a suspension part so back it went and I bought, and easily installed, the Roadmaster rear sway bar. So I have front Hellwig, rear Roadmaster, with Sumo springs on both ends, and am very happy with all.

Strange…
On my 24.1-E450, the rear Helwig was plug & play, required no drilling of new holes

I thought the 24.1 was on the E-350 chassis. Then again, the rear might not be different between the two...

Mine was also a 2019, FWIW

I believe earlier year model 24.1 were built on E450. Not sure when the change was made.

Lot of previous Forum discussion on the switch from 350 to 450 back to 350 on Vegas/Axis
I believe that late ‘16’s thru early ‘19’s there was a switch to 450 chassis due to pollution control
I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong

Fwiw, I have a 2022 Four Winds 28A with Ford E450 Super Duty chassis. I had a SafeTsteer, and Roadmaster sway bars front and rear. Only Haven 4,000 miles, but it handles really well and corners flat. Oh and what also helped a lot was a good 4 wheel alignment. The E450 alignment is way off as it comes from the factory.

We had Safe-T Plus installed right at their place. We decided to take our Thor Ace to them as they don't charge labor that way and they have a free overnight spot to camp. It made a world of difference! Within an hour we were on our way!

Hellwigs Front And Rear

I've got a 2022 Thor Four Winds with a E450 chassis. Installed the Hellwigs sway bars front and rear, have the SummoSprings Black on order and going to put them on. The sway bars made a difference, but looking for more. Also got a RoadMaster Exact Center steering stabilizer. I'll let ya know how it works after that. Also thinking when they install the Exact Center I'll have them set the Caster up closer to the high end (4-7 degrees) as I've read that's a big help.

I put a Road Master anti-sway bar on the rear of my Windsport 29m and it is amazing. Drives like a sports car. Also put Sumo springs on the front, and like you Bilsteins all around.

Alignment

You are on the right track with pursuing a good alignment. Enclosed is my before and after. That along with Roadmaster front and rear sway bars, and SafeTplus, transformed the handling on my 2022 28A E450,

So quick question, does everyone recommend replacing front and rear end links?

Thanks.
