Question Replaced carpet with vinyl - slides now just 'float', rest only on outer frame

We recently purchased a used Hurricane 34B. It has the HWH single-piston slides if I'm not mistaken. The slides have pads that are almost as wide as the slides themselves and they used to glide across the carpet.

However, the previous owners replaced the carpet with stick-on vinyl tiles. This is much thinner than the old carpet was and the result is that the inner pads no longer rest on anything. There is about a 1/4" gap between the vinyl and the pads.

The result is that the slides now fully rest on the outer frame of the coach - even when retracted. Does anyone know whether this is a problem?
