Miramar Entry Door Wind

I have a 2017 Miramar 37.1, which has a gas strut on the main entry door.,When the wind blows it does not keep it from swinging open if you loose your grip. Are there recommendations to help reduce the movement in the wind. ?

Thank you

I don't think a door closer from the house would work any better. I also like the old style camper doors that opened flat against the body.

It's a screen door closer. It's purpose is to pull the door closed and it has shock absorbing valves. This is in contrast to the simple compression spring on the door whose purpose is to push and hold the door open and has no shock absorbing valve towards the open position.

Gas struts come in several pressures. Take your present struct to NAPA, Autozone etc and ask it they can find a stronger one in the same length. If it is windy, I put a thumb screw clamp on the rod to hold the door open.

I'll stand my ground. I have had the wind pull my home's storm door open going out the door. It might be fine on a calm day, but when the wind is up nothing is going to stop it from pulling a flat panel like a door out of your hands.

Growing up in Western KS, you learned to park into the wind to avoid bent door hinges and dents in fenders.

You also opened opened one door at a time.

A few times, we have had high winds camping. You crack the door, get both hands on it, and hang on.

Last year was windy, and this year is so far. In the Midwest, with two days last week of 50 mph plus gust.
