Replacing sofa with dual loungers Axis 24.1

Has anyone replaced their 67" sofa with dual recliners? And where can I find a place in Texas to do the installation...there is no way I want to tackle a job like this. I'm looking a rec-pro Charles. Comments and suggestions very welcome!

67" Double RV Wall Hugger Recliner Sofa with Console
I installed the Rec-Pro Charles with center console in our Vegas. One reason for picking this recliner was that it could be ordered with cloth upholstery. I bought the manual recline model.

It is a fairly easy install. The back is already removed from the chair and it all fits thru a 22" door. I removed the jacknife sofa and removed the seat belts. I then added 3 1/2 inches to the front edge of the slide to have enough depth for the new chairs using a 2x4 joined it to the slide with 6 metal straps. I then covered the slide with black carpet and installed the new recliners plus outer two belts. I fastened the chairs down with a couple of homemade brackets-they do not need much to stay in place. I don't feel you really need an RV tech to do this, just a handy person (you or a friend) or a paid handyman should be able to accomplish it. The whole job will take about 4 hours or so.

Nearly a year later, we are still happy with them and they are a huge improvement over the sofa. I would rate the quality as good, but it won't compare with fine home furniture!

Quite a few people have done it (including myself; we used Shop4Seats). You can find many in the Axis/Vegas mods thread:

Thor Forums

This forum has a treasure trove of helpful information. You will find a lot of posts on replacing the miserable jacknife sofa with recliners. For us, it was one of the high priority changes along with adding more sound proofing and heat insulation.

Our Vegas is our first RV since owning a pop-up camper in the 80's. I have gained a wealth of knowledge from reading the posts and asking questions. So many owners have experienced similar probelms/situations/experiences.

Rec pro recliners

I replaced my sleep sofa with RecPro manual recliners, was a fairly easy install. We love them they are much more comfortable. Put your Sofa on Craigslist I was able to sell it in a day to a fellow that was refurbishing an older travel trailer. Good luck it’s one of the best mods I’ve done to our coach

Ours have to be powered electrically; no room for levers and handles.
That's why we'll let the Dealership do the heavy lifting on this project.

Thumbs up find a local repair shop

we replaced our dinette with RecPro loungers. best move we made! I found a local repair shop (NOT a 'big name' but a good local business!) he really went the extra mile for us! when one part arrived damaged, he informed me right away, and even kept the shipping boxes so the part could be returned! (No problems with that, by the way. RecPro was AMAZING!) The people who did the mod were super, and the results were better than factory!

it can be done, and they're out there.

We had ours replaced with those recliners & love them. We had them installed by the RV dealer that we purchased them from. My husband removed the sofa beforehand to save a little money. Look at who in your area sells the recliners. They should have or know someone to install.

Replacing sofa

I did same thing. Couldn’t stand the jackknife sofa. Had recliners shipped directly to my local repair shop. They removed sofa and installed recliners for like a $100 bucks. Worked out really well. Sold sofa on Craigslist in a couple days.
Good luck

Axis duel recliners

I saw a duel loveseat recliner I want to swap with our couch. It is not for an RV, any reason it has to be?

If it can fit: it's always worth a look.
The only thing I'd look at; would be how could you attach it to the floor? I'm guessing that it's perched on four legs...

Replacing sofa with dual recliners

I also purchase the Rec Pro 67 in Charles line in upholstery and am very happy. Easy install no need to bolt down, the weight is all you need.
