Cab step modification

The SWMBO was having problems getting into and out of the cab. The landing area was too high for her comfort, and I got tired of getting out to put down a small step stool for her to use so I added an under step (sort of a booster step below the main landing area).

The steel support under the landing area is very sturdy and already had some support braces (there is a recent thread about these side braces falling off). I had some 1/4" plate in the shop, so I cut out brackets and welded up the step (yep, I know 1/4" is a bit of overkill, but it is what I had available). Attached the step braces with grade 8 bolts and self tapping screws. I then added another brace from the new step up to the truck frame and it is very solid. More to the point, she loves it!

Very good. Both of us are short but for the time being still can manage but the time may come so I'll mark this for future reference.
