F-550 Suspension Upgrades

Any Thor Super C owners out there that have done any suspension upgrades to their F-550 chassis? If so I would love to hear what you did.

Thanks,

Our 35SF handles and rides just great. Can’t see the need for any upgrades. So much better than our previous C on an E450 even after we put $1200 in suspension fixes.

Mine does too, but I want to raise the front about an inch or two so the coach is level when on level ground.

I’m not sure if it will fit https://kelderman.com/
Or have a set of shocks custom built by roadkingshocks.com there are not too many aftermarket suppliers for F550 suspension

My last c class was a e450 and I bought a set of koni and added airbags and larger sway bar and it drove like a new suv

Mine drives like a dream and handles the normal road issues very smoothly. Can't imagine how you could improve on it.

Cool

Well California now has 40 million people plus living in the state the roads are absolutely terrible,I’ve seen potholes on major freeways that would suck your motorhome in and Damage your aluminum rims. My son lives in Minnesota I’ve never seen roads as beautiful

"there are not too many aftermarket suppliers for F550 suspension"

Good point! It's because there are no issues with them. The F550 chassis is a true, built for commercial use, heavy duty truck chassis that doesn't need them in order to perform properly.

Yep what a difference updating the old school suspension, the factor is good but nothing like what can be found after market. I just finished the rear anti sway bar from Roadmaster and also readjusted factor front and rear sway bar to first drill hole. All so known as ( CF - cheap fix ) I just need to add the Sumo's to the rear. I’m tired have crawling under the beast need a break.

Mine rides like, well, a truck! MORryde???

Sorry I'm late to the party. I have a 2017 Chateau 35SF. (Model year 2016 F550 SD 6.8L with 60k). The ride is atrocious, to put it mildly. We just finished a 2100 miler from AZ to FL. The only thing that I did that helped was to fill my fresh water tank for added weight. I researched some options - LiquidSprings are cost prohibitive for me. I don't get the Sumo springs. They just look like thicker bottoming pads to me. We're on the verge of dumping this and looking for something else, but we like the layout and size. Is there anyone out there that has tried the MORryde RS or RSX systems?

I put new bilstiens on mine. And, as you said full or almost full fresh water.
Try having it aligned might also help, but, do it when your completely loaded.

We used crew cab F550's to tow our tandem axle cattle and hay trailers. About 150k we changed the shocks and that was it.

Great Chassis and will outlast any of the lighter trucks. At the time the cab was about three inches wider than the F350/F450, does anyone know if that still is the case? Just curious.

The omni I HAD drove terrible above about 60mph. Wandered, loose steering feel and just a lot of work to drive. I did have a PS failure that was fixed but didn't help. After I weighed, set tire pressures for the weight and aligned is was some better but still not pleasant to drive. My omni must have been jinxed since both the house and chassis was a POS. Frankly that surprised me, the chassis part, since so many report it's a good driving vehicle and my previous Ford SD drove good.

I just bought a 2014 33SW and the previous owner had put the Kelderman air ride system on it. When I bought it I didn't even know it was there and the 12v ignition line was disconnected so it was completely deflated and not working. After my son was looking around underneath he saw it and we started investigating and got the ignition 12v line working again and it aired right up. I could definitely feel the difference in the ride.. much smoother!
