Yes but it also depends on how hot it is. I rigged up a extra plug I can use if the 30 amp is all I can get, like some state parks. I run my freezer, refrig and convertor off of a 20 amp plug. My two ac's will pull almost all of the 30 amp.

Are you asking about upgrading a camping spot or upgrading a Motorhome?

Ken

upgrade the campers electrical from 30 amp to 50 amp. our windsport has 30 amp with 1 battery..we're probably going to upgrade it to 2 batteries next year but curious what the cost would be to upgrade it to 50 amp.

thanks for replies !

The only real reason to upgrade to 50amp is to add a 2nd A/C unit. Are you intending to put a 2nd A/C on?

Biggest cost would would be a bigger generator if you wanted to run everything while dry camping. I installed a second AC and ran a separate wire to the outside just for it. Ran both ac's all weekend with no problems. 67 degrees this morning.

I'm looking to do the same while also adding an inverter to my 2016 Ace 30.2. You'll need a new cord, receptacle, transfer switch, and probably new distribution panel or at least an additional one. Parts alone for this are around $600. Inverter and cables are additional.

wouldn't you need to reorganize/wire the internal circuits in the coach? Going from 30 to 50 is really going from 30 to 100, and I would think the various internal coach circuits are divided between the 2 50s.

I wouldn't think so because all circuits remain at 115-Volt whether it's 30 or 50 Amps. All that is required is for each circuit to be reconnected to a breaker of the same rating in the new 50-Amp panel.

the reorganization I am referring to is in the circuit breaker panel, not throughout the coach. A new panel like tareeves mentioned would take care of it, provided it is a 2 line panel. Or, he also mentioned another option, to add another panel for the second 50 supply. It would be best if the frequently used high amp draws are not all on one side.

Re: batteries, I don't think the number of batteries is dependent on the 120v service, at least in the 1 vs 2 battery discussion.
