The wood is poplar. It lighter than oak and has very nice grain

I will use Minwax 227184444 Wood Finish Penetrating Interior Wood Stain, 1/2 pint, Ebony

Will do best to match the Brazilian Cherry with it.

Very pleased with the results.
The window frame is like 1.5 inches and super hard. Screwed in two squares to the wall with just enough clearance at the top to squeeze the frame in. Screwed the frame to the squares for a pretty tight solid fit.Click image for larger version

Can you still move the seat around to face the other direction?

Yes I originally wanted a cubby hole the size of a magazine until I realized it would restrict movement of Captain chair. You can move it all the way around even with the arm rest down.

That is most impressive indeed! One of our old coaches didn't have a cup holder on the driver's side, of all things, and there was ample room on the dash corner to include one. Go figure....

I would buy one. My wife and I have been trying to come up with a solution for the lack of a cup holder.

I’ll post pictures with a tape measure to see if it fits your setup. It really wasn’t as hard to build as I thought it was going to be
