Privacy glass in entry door

2015 Vegas 24.1. Don’t like the textured privacy glass on the inside of the entry door. It seems like it’s a separate piece of glass than the smoked glass on the outside. Has anyone removed this? Removed and replaced with clear tempered?

I do recall that folks have swapped them out.
Have you tried using the Search button?
(That piece of glass simply felt out in my Outlaw... )

Mine fell out last summer. I left it out for a while, but ended up putting it back in using rtv.

Mine is trapped within the frame. It couldn’t fall out.

If you'll look carefully you will see that the outer glass is actually clear with black around the perimeter.
The inner glass is the clear obscure so that it allows light to penetrate.

The obscure glass can be fairly easily removed based on my assessment.
There are a couple of plastic clips that help keep it in place. And probably some silicone as well.

Here's the issue once you have added the clear/see-thru glass...
- Because of the screen, it's difficult to add a working and worthwhile shade
- So each time you want to raise or lower the shade to add privacy, you'll need to open the door, go out side, separate the screen from the main door, lower or raise the shade, then go back inside
- Seems like a real hassle to me

Below is a link to another option that has been discussed on this Forum

https://www.campingworld.com/slim-shade-rv-door-window-with-built-in-shade-black-

The downside to this option is what I stated above, as well as the outside will no longer look uniform to the other windows.

Let us know what you decide.

It depends on your window configuration.

On my 2018 Outlaw, the outer window was smoke color and there was a separate piece of glass acting as privacy glass on the inside. This was held in place by Mastic.

You could try some heat (heat gun or hair dryer) to soften it up and /or some solvent.

I suspect it would not be too difficult to remove if this were your configuration. I recall some people had them fall out over time.

If it's this setup: it'll probably fall out on it's own, and you can then sort out how you want to replace it.

I’ll have to look more closely at my installation. It sure looks like the glass is held in the frame securely by the frame and screws.
As for privacy afterwards, I can easily install a roller type shade on the inside. There seems to be plenty of mounting points on the TV framework above.

Thanks bob..that’s an interesting solution he has.. I’d live with mine before cutting the door to accommodate a larger unit.

My Northern Lite camper had a black cloth that used snaps to attach over and under the clear rear window. Fit neatly between door and screen door.
I agree, no room for a roller type design.

Just to chime in and say that I'm still 100% glad I made the mod to replace that stock window with the shaded one. The new one is tinted just like the other windows in the RV and really only need the shade at night for privacy. Not a big deal to open the door to lower the shade, but to each his own!
