Has anyone added tank being pads
We live in nc, so we don't have a long freezing season, but we want to be able to use our fe22 all year round. We are heading to Disney in Jan. and Feb. and don't know of adding the tank heaters are worth it.
Besides the pipes and tanks, what else is exposed to freezing?

NC to Fla? I wouldn't worry about it unless you are boondocking. I camp thru November up north pa and Ny. Other than the fresh water tank and city hookup if available, I don't worry. As long as I can hook up to sewers. Mine came with heating pads and I think I've used them twice only as peace of mine. Used them last night before breaking camp to insure a good flush.

If he really is worried buy a heat strip for pipe, should have it at Lowe's. Just plug it in with and extension cord. You could also just add rv antifreeze to the holding tank. I don't think you will have any issues.

I carry a bottle or two of RV antifreeze and if need be I add a little to the gray and black water tanks.

Does you main heater have a hose in to the tanks. My WindSport does, also my old 2005 Pace arrow did. It small 2 inch hose is what they use.

Quite a few snowbirds leave Canada and the Upper States in January. With your unit winterized, you travel with bottled water and RV antifreeze as others have stated. Just flush the toilet with the RV antifreeze poured from the jug. Use paper plates and the famous plastic cutlery and enjoy the break from the dishes. If it's really too cold you stay in a hotel. Normally by North Carolina, though, it should be shorts and flip flop weather.

I will have to check. The tanks are all exposed to the underside, I am not sure about the hoses. I can add antifreeze to the grey and bla k water, but don't want to shower with pink water.

Do the "Imagineers" at WDW even allow things to freeze during the Winter?
You should have no trouble at all...

If you normally winterize at home for Dec/Jan - I would do so...
When arriving at WDW - dewinterize - and enjoy... you will probably need the A/C during your stay. lol...
Before heading back - if you would normally still be winterized at home - do so (or in route...)
You certainly won't encounter enough cold at WDW to freeze a holding tank... Likely not even enough to do anything to external water lines.
Last 3 winters in Orlando area - I never even disconnected lines due to cold once...
A few nights I pulled plants/herbs we grew outside into the rig due to frost warning... About the extent of it.

A couple of years ago we drove from MI to FL and back (not to WDW) in December.
I dewinterized right before we left MI (in below freezing conditions) and rewinterized once we returned to MI (also in below freezing conditions). Had no issues, no cracked pipes, etc. I performed both procedures ASAP, however (e.g. immediately before leaving, and immediately after we had the RV empty upon returning to MI--in both cases I had the RV toasty warm inside from the furnace and the tank heaters were always off).

I have not seen or recall anyone reporting a cracked holding tank... that would take a lot. Just freezing won't crack it - it has to freeze with no room to expand to cause a problem...
I do recall posts of frozen pipes - both sewer (the exposed drain line from some tanks) - and fresh water lines. Ice maker valve is one I recall as well.
But it does take more than a basic frost... and if living in the rig - assuming use of furnace for the people.. the plumbing is likely happy.
Most damage occurs sitting in storage for long periods without proper winterization (oops - I forgot that one valve... kind of moments...)

Hi Rhonda
i also have a 22fe and have used it to camp all year long. even during the winter months and i love the mountains. i put anti freeze in holding tanks. black is prepped as normal and then a gallon or so into the hole. i pour a gallon or so into gray tank. i turn on water pump and let it pressurize then open sink valves one at a time letting system re-pressurize plus toilet. i use 35 psi to blow my lines out with a compressor. it works best with 2 people. 1 to maintain the pressure fitting and 1 to open sink hot and cold front and back. also to flush toilet till only air comes out. 1/4 cup in the sink traps. when i take a trip i use motor home as normal. i use more bottled water and the campground bathhouse more. also as was said paper plates, red solo cups, and plastic utensils that i throw away. i also don't use the awning during the winter. frost can weigh a lot. but i enjoy mine year around and i live just below ya in Ga.
