Sofa to Recliner

For all of you that have changed out your sofa for two recliners. What if any is the big difference from getting the new recliners from RecPro, shop4seat, etc. or a standard furniture store?

Two things: The RV recliners are designed to mount to the RV and they are designed to fit to standard RV sizes (e.g. 68" or 72" widths).

I can only tell you about RecPro as those are the recliners we used. For me it was being sure they would go through the Windsport's door. Since the backs come off, there was no problem. I like the fact they sent us samples of the covering material so we could see the actual colors and the quality. It happened that I had to be in their area on business so I made arrangements to visit their shop where we could see and sit in what they had. We liked what they offered so we bought them that day and took them home with us. They were great to deal with and even unpacked them for us so they would fit in our SUV. We've had them about a year and so far they look, feel, and operate like the day we installed them.

Shop4Seats will also send you covering samples. Most seem like they want you to see how they look off of their respective web sites.

What Jamie said. To add my 2 cents, the use of a pull cord between the arm and seat cushion to raise the foot rest is unique to RV reclining loveseats. Regular Home furniture will usually have a handle or button on the side of the chair which you might not be able to reach in a tight spot.

We replaced our jackknife couch with a RecPro Charles 67" recliner/sofa a couple of weeks ago. We haven't been out with the coach yet, but I've been able to give it the TV test while I was out at the coach to run the generator. I can tell already that this is going to be a great choice.

WE made the change 2 1/2 years ago and have never missed the jack-knife couch.

Vegas 25.2: not an option

I wish I could replace the couch with some recliners but the water tank and pump are located under the couch/recliner! DARN!

I have the same problem. Wonder if a piece of plywood could be put down for mounting recliners and then have some sort of access door for water pump. Anyone tried this?

We have the same problem with our Axis in replacing the couch. Our thought was that if you mount the recliners over the tank won't they be pretty high off the floor and maybe unbalanced?
We brainstormed that maybe we could use plywood and hinge it on the outside of the frame with some sort of latches at the back, just so you could remove the recliner backs and flip the seats over to get to the tank if needed, but that still leaves the height and balance issues.
